I finally installed my SPA guage, it has all kinds of options, but I have a question.

I know nothing about how digital guages are supposed to work. The EGT display is really slow to get up to the actual temp. If I mash the loud pedal from a stand still run up through 2nd and 3rd gear and then let off the guage is still climbing and it only reaches around 800 degrees then will start to come back down slowly. If I then hit the tell all red button it says my max temp was about 1200 degrees:confused: Is this normal?????

A really confused Marshall:confused: :confused: :confused: :{

EGT

MMclain, there is a setting on the SPA guages that is explaind in the manual on how fast the gauge updates itself with readings from the gauge. It can be set, if I remember correctly from one tenth of a second to several second, someone correct me if I am wrong. Just read the manual for the gauges and look for the setting oin with it reads the senders for the gauge and see if that solves your problem. If worst comes to worst, call Patrick at SPA and he will help you. ;)

There was another thread a week or 2 ago about the SPA EGT readings being slow. In a nut shell, SPA is having a problem with the Pyrometer reacting to slow. They know it and are working with another supplier to correct the problem.

The name of the thread was "SPA pyro problem".

Its the thermocouple not the guage. Look for that thread mentioned above. HVAC and others are working on it for SPA. Basically you need a smaller TC, like 1/8th instead of the 1/4 one you got... that is my guess at least.

I had a TC go bad on me about a year ago, Ron replaced the original 1/8" with a 1/4". It responded very slow and always read too low. He then sent out another 1/8" TC and it works great.

Are they using 1/4" TCs again? Someday I'd like to upgrade to the new style gauges.
