This really only applies to those TDR members who are using the SPA dual digital #DG-106 (combined EGT and Turbo boost).

I'd just like clarification from other TDR members using this gauge if their own configuration set-up is similar or wildly different, as I've been getting some unusual readings recently... ... Thanks!!

My SPA is set as follows:

Bl=on

Rt Pe

--Pr

AT=. 5

Tb=000

Etb=000

Ot=900

Eot=000

Efl=off

thr=1000

My EGT sensor is placed post turbo which is why I have it set at 900 and I believe the At (average time) is the amount of time it uses to average its readings so the gauge doesn't flucuate so much. I do not remember what the tb settting is for and couldn't find the manual off hand to check. I am not sure but I think all of the settings that start with "e" are for external switching options. I also have their transmission/diff temp and fuel pressure/oil temp gauge. My fuel pressure/oil temp gauge did go bad and was showing very erratic readings as well as the display would just wig out completely so you couldn't even tell what it was saying due to the myriad of dashes and lines all over the display. I called Ron at SPA and he just had me send it back and he replaced it no problem. Good luck finding the problem.

Thanks for the feedback Barry, very much appreciated. I'm intrigued as to why your Tb value=000; surely the ol' red light must be on all the time? If you set it for a threshold value, depending upon what mods you have, the red overboost warning light will only come on when you reach or exceed the pre-determined threshold?

As soon as I get mine fixed, I'll post. Seems I have a bad thermocouple.

Called SPA, the said they would send one out right away, no hassels. Good People.

John:

I noticed that as well and was suprised to see that when I was writing down those settings when I got in the truck this morning. I found the manual and it is for boost set point. I would have assumed that the red light would be on as well but it sure isn't. The light works because when I go into the programming mode it does light. So maybe because it was set at zero it didn't illuminate. Anyway I have reset it to 20 as I am stock. I may set it later at 5 or 6 and see if it comes on to verify that it is working correctly.

Hey there - I hit 235 lbs of boost the other day on my SPA guage... . even at idle! I have no idea what went wrong, but my max value recall often says 235. Anyone seen this?

Setting alarm threshholds to zero turns off the alarm on my gauges.

In 3 out of 4 cases of erratic readings, I've found that the connections required tightening. You have to disassemble the female connector and recrimp the female ends. Next time around I'm going to ditch the female connector and solder directly to the male ends on the sender.

Hi Scooby - long time no hear! I'm off to the SPA factory in the UK on Monday 20 August and I'll ask the resident tech guru on your behalf! What are you upto these days?
