a different type of tire question

I had my dealer try and remove the spacers between the rear axle and the leaf springs. But to his suprise and mine they seem to made to the springs. He said he hasnt seen this before and that they must have changed the design. He also said he could not find any service notices about lowering that back end for pulling a 5ver. Any one else have this problem? How did you get around lifting your trailer so high? Looks mine would take some where around 5 inches to level out. My truck is a stock late 07 2500 and my trailer is a 93' Holiday Rambler 5ver converted to a goose neck.

Not sure about the 07s, but the 04s are simply "zero-rate" blocks attached to the springs via two centering bolts...

Should be as simple as removing the two centering bolts, shortening them (or buying new ones), and reinstalling... not sure if the ubolts have enough thread on them to clamp everything with those blocks removed??

I considered this with mine, but decided against it because I have airbags... too little room with them removed...

Have you checked the camper to see if the axles could be flipped??

i took them out of my late 07 5. 9 4x4 auto... . no problems. there is the one that must stay due to it having the centering pins on it. but the other two came out easily.

i would give it another look if you really want them out.

good luck, j

on edit and risk of insulting your wisdom... .

you do have to remove the nut on top of the spring pack (be sure to clamp the pack together on each side of the center bolt first) pull the center bolt out and the two middle spacers will come out. the bottom one must go back in, you'll see why when you see it, replace the center bolt and nut and you should be good to go.

other menbers please check my advice here as i always worry i'm going to get someone hurt when i offer advice like this. it really is a no-brainer though.

I was at the dealer and they were the ones telling they wouldnt come out. I have since been talked out of flipping the trailer axles because the RV dealer said it would raise my trailer 5 to 6 inches and I am already at 12'7". I think I will try and lift the front of my truck to level it out some and that should allow me to lower my goose neck some. I am currently in the process of buiding my self a tow bed and after I install it on my truck I should be able to shorten my goose neck more than enough.
