Well OK, it was a retired police car. It was one of the latest gen chev Caprice's some kid was using to pass everything in sight. He pulled off and I went by, a few minutes later I saw him coming f/ behind.

:eek: :eek: Now I don't normally do this kind of thing but I couldn't resist. I reached down and dialed the TST up to 5/6.

We were driving up a 4% grade and each of us had our own lane. As he got next to me (65mph) I gave it a little gas - I heard him hit passing gear so I jammed it to the floor. I just walked away from him. Then, I let off and let him catch up (and let my EGT drop), at about 95 he got along side me and I hit it again - I pulled away again, this time a little slower but leaving no doubt as to his humiliation.

I backed off and let him go by - two spankings is enough. :D

Wow! 50 plus views and no replies? :(

Did I hold up the proud honor of the TDR and diesel enthusiasts everywhere or just make an ars of myself?

Geez I can hear my mother now "Scotty, Your 43 years old - why don't you act like it... " (Insert raspberry sound here :p )

A friend of mine has a 1995 Chevy Caprice 9C1 (police package, retired North Carolina Highway Patrol). He installed an Auburn limited slip and 3. 42:1 gears since the stock 3. 08 open diff sucked.

Other than that it is stock. I can out accelerate him with my truck, bombed with an early Edge 3 - light box and 275 injectors.

Best 1/4 mile so far is 15. 9 @ 92 in my Ram, to his 16. 5@87. This was at Rockingham Dragway, test N tune night. ;)

The 9C1 Caprices that had balls were the ones with factory dual exhaust. 1994-1996, which had the LT-1 260 HP, 330 Ft Lbs. If you see one with singe exhaust, it's either a '93 or older or if it's newer, it has the smaller V8, not the LT-1. I'd love to have an LT-1 9C1. I've had two in the past, a 1982 Impala 350 4 barrel (back in '85) and a 1990 350 TBI.

It sux that GM killed the 'B-body' cars!

:cool: You would probably beat a new one too, they are not as fast as you would think !! Off the line they are real slo , but once they get goin it don't take long to get to the 135 max. If I was workin I would probably laugh if you wanted to race, although I wouldnt recomend you try it with your local Law Enforcement agency. . :D

My wife beat an on duty policeman once, of course that was in our supercharged Bonneville Ssei. She said he started it but it was just the fact of the matter..... how do you know for sure?:-{}

Prairie Dog,

Good job! :)

A little off topic, but back in the late 80's, I raced a police car. He was a neighbor and was bragging about how nobody could get away from his 5. 0 litre mustang interceptor. I was driving a '68 GTO with a '66 vette 427 solid lifter motor (450 hp stock), a turbo 400 and 12 bolt posi with 2. 73 gears. He said "there's no way that old car can go as fast as the Interceptor, it'll do 150 mph. " Passed him when he topped out at 150. Nothing like a big block that can rev to 8200 RPM's ;) Ah, the good old days, (insert heavy sigh here!).

I have one of the '95 Caprices. It is an ex-NC unmarked highway patrol car and it does have the LT-1 package. Runs like a bat out of **ll. I don't think i would want to tangle with it in a CTD. Heck, I think it would give my Vette a tough run. One of the troopers who lives down the road from me use to run one and he said it would beat the pants off the new Crown Vics. I have it put up now because there aren't that many running around anymore. At least around here. Funny, it is the same body style and power package as the Impala.

I had a bombed '85 vette, and a loaded '98 Camaro SS - for sheer grunt at about 1800 RPM on, this Cummins powered truck gives the same accelleration grin they did - and IT will pull my trailer too! ;) :D
