How about straight from battery with a relay ?tha would work ?

Relays are good but what ever you do put a fuse as close to the battery connection as practical and match the fuse size to the wire size and load. To be safe use an 8 amp fuse for 16 ga wire, 15 amp for 14 ga wire, 20 amp for 12 ga wire, 30 amp for 10 ga wire and 40 amp use an 8 ga wire. Short wire runs can get by with smaller wires but its safer to use a larger ga than necessary so you don't get too much voltage drop which increases the amperage draw.

For my Ebrake switched source I bought a fuse extender thing that wired into the stock fuse box. It takes one fuse and turns it into two with a small lead. The lead is then attached to the relay. The fuse extender is only used for a trigger. I left the original 10amp fuse for the stock accessory. The second fuse I used a 1. 5 or 3amp fuse to feed the relay. Bought it at Autozone.
