Spare Key

I am getting another Key/Spare Key for the Truck, I will have to have it cut and Programmed. Is there a certain way to program it yourself? I have read many things on this. I have a 06 3500.

When I got my spares, I found the procedure in my owners manual. Pretty easy. Post if you can't find yours and I'll get mine out and read it to you. .



By the way Lowes cut my keys free of charge. I don't know if the sign really meant keys not sold there but I pointed to the sign that said "keys cut free" and they did it... .

My dealer cut my spare, and I programmed. You need 2 programmed keys to program the 3rd.

you can get a driver door key that will not start the truck. I got this free from the dealer and put the key in one of those magnetic boxes on top of my frame. If a thief finds it he will only be able to get in, not start it.

I bought two programmable keys from E-Bay cheap and programmed them myself using the owner's manual instructions. You have to do it just right or it won't work. Took me a couple of tries. Still working perfectly after three years. Total cost was maybe $20. 00. I have the sentry system w/no factory alarm.
