Spare Tire cable frayed...Help

Anyone have an idea of how to salvage my spare tire cable. Went to fix my flat some months back and noticed that the cable was "a frayed knot"... Ha Ha.

Anyway it is frayed and only 3 strands left just above the holder"er" and not enough to splice to.

So my spare is now in the bed. AND I WANT IT OUT !

Any ideas???

Go down the the dealer... . and prepare to cut your left arm off to pay for a new spare tire winch.

You might get lucky and find one in a junkyard.....

All of the junkyards around me have next to nothing for 2nd gen trucks.....

Think I'm going to drill two holes in the Hanger... put in a stainless steel U bolt and attach the cable to that !!!! That sould fix it !!

Go find a spare tire winch off a late mode Toyota Landcruiser, it uses a chain not a cable. A little tinkering and you should be able to put it in place of your cable winch.

todays your lucky day!

Just took a winch out to put a Aux fuel tank there. It is in good shape. Just send me $25 (had to adjust the price from the PM because it is sorta heavy... . ) for it and shipping and it is yours.
