Recently I purchased a Spa dual guage for trans/rear diff. temps. The trans portion of the installation comes with an adequate amount of cable to connect the probe to my pillar mount and appears to be working properly. As for the rear differential I purchased a Mag-Hytec rear diff. cover which comes with a pre tapped mounting port for the sender which worked out nicely. Unfortunately the cable length from the pillar mount to the sending unit requires splicing the cable to reach the rear diff. . In fact the cable length is exactly the same as the trans cable. Well, I spliced the cables and the rear diff readings are definitlely not valid. If the vehicle sets for an extended period of time the initial reading should be the ambient air temperature at the time the gauge is activated. My initial reading is 159 degrees even though the temp in the garage is 65 degrees. I don't believe the gauge is malfunctioning, but my splice has more than likely contributed to this problem. I believe the splice is good but I did notice a difference in the gauge of the factory wire and the electrical wire I used to splice with. I used 18 guage wire to splice to the factory wire. It appears the factory wire is much smaller than that. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
