I've got the extra cash and I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my 99 Quadcab. Was curious if you guys had any recomendation for some one that know's nothing about audio components.

There are so many brands out there that I just can't begin to deside what's good and what's not. I think the fronts are 6x9's and the rears of 6. 5" but that's about all I know. I figured I don't want to spend any more than $200 per set (front's & rears) and didn't know if I would need an amp or not. I have an aftermarket stereo now that's a Blaupunkt but the rest is factory Infinity.

I just need some good advise before going to the store I looking like an idiot. ;)

Thanks

Actually the rears are 5 1/4 I believe, they are not 6. 5's they will be to big. Damn crutchfied on what fits is wrong.

As far as brands that is always a personal chioce, the best thing to do is go listen to some and see what you like best for your listening pleasure.

I spent the last month looking into the same swap. I talked to

all the local shops and everyone had a different opinion. What

I did learn from the on-line car stereo forums is that you should put your money into the front speakers first. This is your sound stage. I bought 6. 5 round component speakers which separate

the tweeter from the midbass speaker. I mounted the 3/4" tweeters high on the door panel so as to aim at my ears as they are very directional. Next is a quality amp to drive the speakers.

A good amp provides clean sound through low harmonic distortion at a given load. Next would be a subwoofer but I

just started looking into that.

When I had my 99 I put a pair of Diamond Audio Hex 600. S in the doors with the tweet just above the mid and a additional tweet in the “A” pillar to bring the sound stage. In the rear I just use a Diamond 51/4 Hex for rear fill. For power I used a Xtant 4004. If you have any questions just e-mail me.
