Does anyone have any experience with Vulcans Special Line Kit for trucks with the lift pump relocated to the tank. Also can someone please tell me how you measure the lift pumps flow. Is it done by bumping the starter without starting the engine???Thanks

A flow meter would be a great gauge to have, has anyone seen one that might fit our application?

I made up a adapter cord for my lift pump from the pigtail that came with one of my replacements and I put a cigarette lighter plug on the other end to make priming a breeze. Just unhook the plug at the pump and plug in the adapter cord, plug the other end into the power port in the dash and the pump will run as long as I want no pesky starter bumping.

That's a great idea for priming the system instead of bumping the starter! I'll have to do that myself!

Hmm.....

Thanks for the suggestion.

Good idea. I just did something along the same lines as this. Hooked up a relay to run the pump. I extended the extra pigtail wire from the normally closed relay contact side and now when I need to prime I just hook the wire up to the battery + under the hood. An alligator clip on the wire end makes it easy. No more starter bumping and running back and forth trying to open/close the vent screw at the right time.

I've never seen it done, but I think the "official" lift pump volume test would be somewhat difficult to do with the short duration prime cycle offered by the starter bump method.

Are you talking about the OEM carter LP that has been relocated down on the frame or the in-tank pump inside the fuel tank?

The one in the tank

I have the in-tank pump plus a Carter mounted on the frame and Vulcans big line kit.

What I think you'll see with just the in-tank pump + Vulcan is similar pressure's but more capacity. The big 1/2" rubber lines (whatevr they're made of) sort of act line accumulators and the fuel pressure stays steady even when you step on it. My fuel pressure hardly moves regardless of the demand.
