After 17 years...

I have a boy on our high school trapshooting team needing a vent rib barrel (28" or 30" or longer would be good) for an 1100 he owns. It came with only a slug barrel when he bought it, which is next to useless for trap shooting of course, so he uses a different gun that does not even come close to fitting his lanky 6'5" frame.

He shoots much better with a full-sized 1100 with a slip-on Limbsaver recoil pad to lengthen the LOP that I borrowed from a friend and set up for him to try. Proving he owns the right gun already, but it just has the wrong barrel.

Special Purpose (matte finish) 1100's are kind of rare, and I have been unable to find a source for a matte barrel that will match his receiver. Anyone know of any out there?

They have a 28" ventilated trap barrel with screw in chokes listed in "matt" for $185.....

... and a "matt" 30" full choke for $120.

I'm assuming "matt" equals matte but don't know.

It sure sounds like what he needs to me, too. Nice find! I had no idea how hard to find such a barrel was until I tried to. Thank you!

The more I looked into this, the more difficult it seemed to get. Remington only made the Special Purpose (matte finish) 1100 for a year or maybe two, and apparently all of them were sold with slug barrels only (no wonder sales suffered!). And the aftermarket companies did not see a big enough market due to the limited numbers of those guns sold to make any matching barrels.

He could, of course, use a regular blued barrel, but it would not look very good on a matte receiver.

Hope it works out--I've never ordered from Corson but have them on permanent bookmark as they always seem to have the hard-to-find things for projects I dream about but never actually go through with. :-laf
