 i have a 2001 clubcab, auto . i am having gauges and a edge pulse, (set up like a e-z )this weekend. further mods will be an exhaust. i have a k&n filter. thats about all the engine mods i want and need. what specifically should be done to the transmission? i tow, but way under 10,000 lbs. i want a reliable transmission, give me ideas. thanks ,matt

You might be able to get away with nothing, but I would at least check the line pressure, and adjust to the top end. Driving smart is the key to keeping an auto transmission alive.

The way I would recommend you go is to research the transmission companies and decide what theory/company you like and buy their valvebody. Install the VB and go from there. The VB will take most of the need to drive smart away, protecting the transmission.

The best information can come right out of the TDR magazine that you get with your subscription. All the phone numbers and ads are right there waiting for you to call.

In a few of the last recent editions of the TDR they had some good articles about auto transmissions. I rely on the TDR magazine to get an unbiased opinion. I don't think our magazine editors would give us nothing but the staright scoupe on things so base your decisions on fact and proof right out of the TDR.

What ever you decide have fun and be informed.

I don't want to start a :-{} match, but here is my opnion. The DTT upgrades I did are the best upgrade I have done to my truck. Doing a full TC/VB upgrade is highly reccomended by me, even on a bone stock truck. At the time I did it Bill K told me that some of the guys who came to him for more power got the TC/VB done and decieded that it was enough of an increase for them.

I will also add that there are other companies out there doing upgrades, but I chose DTT. :D

What Jim Fulmer said. Look at the packages from DTT. Bill K. recommending EZ and at least a valve body on his bare bones package. Sensibile driving and a calibrated thottle foot also important. Unfortunately, the BOMBING probably will not stop where you are suggesting. As you can see I have already shot my warranty in the ASS, but having the most fun I have had in a long time. MHO, torque converter weakest line in drive train. Seriously consider an upgrade and then you will be safe up to a point.
