speed limiter

hey everyone whats the deal with these new trucks. . i had an open chance to top out my truck and it would do 105mph and thats all. . my 05 dodge with the 5. 9l i had the speedometer pinned past 120mph. . if anyone knows how to get rid of this please let me know thanks garett...

Did you have it removed on your 05? My 04. 5 and 05 will only do 106-108 max.

i had a bd power downloader and the edge juice on the truck so i think that is what removed the speed limiter. .

FWIW my 05 will run up to the red line against the rev limiter in O/D. I'm totally stock and don't seem to be limited by a speed limiter. I just run out of engine.

What stopped me in my 05 was the EGTs at about 1475 at 100mph.

Get a GPS unit, pull your ABS fuse, and give'r another round.



You should lose your Cruise control, ABS, and speedometer, but the ECM/PCM will not know how fast you are traveling, however, teh trans should still shift and lock the TCC at the right time, so you should be able to take your truck to redline in double O. D.

The original software on my 05 did not have a speed limiter in it after one of the updates it added a 108mph limit. Some people I know just don. t calibrate the speedo for the big tires and run a bit higher on the gps.
