Hey all- I have a problem and I need to figure it out fast! There are 3 wires on the speed sensor on the back of my T-case (98 241HD) anyway, I need to know what they all do? does anyone have a manual or the wire schematics?

Any help would be great.

Thanks... Ryan

Ryan:

My '98 manual didn't help at all. The only trans output shaft I could find was for the A/T and was 2 wire.

I do think you might have a problem connecting the Speed sensor direct to the GMC speedometer. The 2 wires on my '98 output speed sensor went to the PCM. One was a 5 volt supply and the other a ground if I recall correctly. It's basically computer input/output and probably has no direct correlation to the older GMC system.

Just saw that you found someone who might have the diagram for a '97. That may be the differnce between my '98 and yours. I think some used the 3 wire sensor while others, like mine, didn't.

Yeah its a little confussing! I have heard of someone making this work though! The GM unit has a 2 wire plug. One is low voltage and the other is the signal going back to the Speed Buffer sensor. Also, the speed buffer sensor has the ground. I have a bunch of different gears for the dodge unit that I will play with if I can get the signal to work but before I totally mess something up I would just like to know which wires are the 5volts, ground and signal to the ECM. (I think orange is to the ECM but could be wrong)

I did??? I havn't found one yet... not sure if in another post I said about a 97... my brother has a 97 truck but no manual.

Any other imput would be great!

Hey, I have photocopied that part of the chrysler manual. It shows a '98 as having a 2 wire transmission output shaft speed. one wire should be light green with black stripe and it is sensor signal ( back to ecm) and the other is Dark blue with a black stripe and it is the ground supply.

I have this copied for my '94 drivetrain going into my '98. In the '94 it has a 3 wire vehicle speed sensor. A red wire is an 8 volt supply. A Black with light blue stripe is the ground. And a White with orange stripe is the signal wire.

Hope this can help.
