Yesterday, while running 65 mph my speedo went to Zero, then started to bounce all over the scale. I made a stop and on restart all was back to normal. This morning I was sitting with engine running in netural and the speedo started to bounce all over the scale. Shut her off, restart and all back to normal.

Any ideas what may be the problem? I am not driving her any more this weekend. I should be able to get to the dealer on Monday with 3 miles remaining on the warrantee. The truck is a 2003

You don't have a MP3 adapter hooked to your stereo do you? I know that some of those will cause issues with the gauges.

Of course if you are going to try to use the warranty with only 3 miles left, you might not want to start looking for stuff and driving around.

Make sure you have it towed to the dealer!

It's the speedo sensor which is located on the rear end , you could try to unscrew it and you may find some debris on it causing it to be goofy,

also you may find your ABS light has come on ,it is also caused from the sensor.

P. S. you may want to disconnect from the sensor and drive it to the dealer then rehook it up.

Thanks for the tip. Its going to be very close in miles to get there before I hit 70K. Is the sensor in the open on the rear differential ? does it have a connector ? will this screw anything else up for a 30 mile ride.

Their is a connector. I sure this won't be covered on the 7/70k . 7/70 is drivetrain only. that would of been covered on the 3/36. It will not screw anything up. your ABS light may come on though.
