Hello, Got a problem. Speedometer doesn't start working till I get to 35mph. Also my brake and ABS lights on the dash are lit. I have been told that this could be a speed sensor on the rearend.

Would like to know if this is something that I can buy and change myself, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe there is a sensor on the top center of the rear axle that if bad will cause those symptoms. It did on my 97 anyway, I replace it and whala it's fixed. I don't recall the price though.

Yes, your problem is the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor (RWSS).

I don't recall the cost, but wasn't TOO much.

An easy Do It Youself job. All you need is two different size wrenches (don't recall the size either) Just unbolt the sensor then you gotta pull the sensor out, which is sealed in VERY firm. Once you pull the old sensor out, just pop the new one in, bolt it down, and connect it up (About as easy as installing a PE EZ) :) , your speedo and ABS/BRAKE lights should all return to normal.

(some people have has luck just cleaning off the sensor and re-installing it, I didn't even try, I just replaced it. )

Hope this helps you.

P. S. When I replaced mine, I jacked up only the frame of the truck (From the reciever hitch) to give me more room to work between the axle and the body of the truck.
