Speedo problems

1991 3/4 ton w/NP205 transfer case. My speedo quit, so I checked the adapter and It spins, I replaced the distance sensor and still no speedo. The Service manual says to "refer to Vehicle Diagnostics Test Procedure for testing of the distance sensor and related components. " Does anybody have this manual or know how to test the distance sensor and wiring to the dash?

Check the nylon gear inside the transfer case. You'll have to take the adapter off and unthread the shaft from the transfer case, stick your finger in the hole and see if you can turn the gear on the shaft. I had to put a new gear on, it was wore enough it wouldn't stay tite. Hope this helps
