Has anybody tried the "Abbot Electronic Ratio Adapter Speedo" available at Jannetty Racing? Supposedly, you can use it to adjust your speedometer and whatnot for larger tire sizes. I am contemplating going to a larger tire, but I can't stand having an innacurate speedometer. I've lifted and tired every truck I've owned, and I can't stand the inevitable side-effects on the speedometer.

If anybody has ever used it, please let me know. I'm curious to hear how well it works before I shell out the $150.

Thanks,

Otis.

I'll be interested in hearing about this too.

I once heard (or read here?) the solution is to call the mfr of your tires, ask them how many rotations-per-mile, and take that number to the dealer. They are supposed to be able to adjust the speedo with that info. One time at the dealer I asked them about that and they wanted to know what I'd been smoking - never heard of THAT.

$150 seems a little steep. An accurate speedo would sure be nice, but at the moment I'm more irritated that my gas gauge is off by almost half a tank. I'm better than I ever wanted to be at re-priming a dry CTD. Argh!

The Abbott box works very well, provided it is installed correctly. Do a search for 'Abbott'; you should find a wealth of info. After perusing those threads, if you have any questions, post them. I can probably answer them, if I haven't already in the other threads.

Rickson (www.ricksontruck.com) have a significantly better price, I believe, for the Abbott box.
