I am changing gear ratios from 3:54 to 4:10, and I was advised to change my speedometer gear from a 31-tooth to a 37-tooth. I went to my local Dodge dealer to get a 37-tooth gear and they quoted me $87 for the plastic gear. Does anybody know of a more reasonably priced source for a 37-tooth speedometer gear?

I use the same source Gary suggested above. The company is MOPAR4LESS in Farmington, NM. They do a high volume business in MOPAR parts online. I use a young woman there named "K" who is always helpful, always accurate, and gives me great discounts.

I have never met her in person, have no connection to K or the company but have used them for years and appreciate the excellent service and prices they offfer.

I didn't think you could change a gear in the 47re. I was told it was controlled electronically by the ab sensor. I got a superlift truspeed module to control mine and it works very well. But definitely more expensive than you were talking about

You have a 98, the OP has a 96. 97 and earlier speed sensor on a 4X4 is on the transfer case.

I learn something every day. Wish I could have just changed a gear. What year did the ABS sensor start controlling the speedometer?
