I recently swapped axles on my project truck, 4:10 to 3:54. The donor truck was an auto, recipient is manual. Both are 4X4 with 205 transfer cases. Can I swap the speedo gears out with the axles and expect a fairly accurate reading on the speedometer. Thanks

Ditto. As long as both are 205s, and you keep them the same (including the electronic signal multiplier that plugs into to side of the 205) then yes all will be the same.

Only way I see that not working is if you have some parts off a 89. They still used speedo drive cables and not electronic. :(

Hey, Bschwarzli, I thought that field generator screwed into the cable drive portion of that unit, which would work... . IIRC.

Yes. True. But on the 89 trucks it was cable right into the back of the dash! Not sure if there was still a field generator. Can't see the need for there to be one as the cable is gear driven and the speedo gear driven off the cable as well. Pretty sure it is one cable t case to speedo. As the dash speedo is mechanical there is no need to convert to electric.

In other words the 10" cable you see is like 60" shorter than the one an 89 guy sees. :-laf
