:confused:I replaced the bulbs in my dash and now my speedometer does not work correctly when truck stopped still doing 5 to 6 mph did I completely trash this or is there a fix

First check the cluster. To initiate a self-test, hold down the trip select/reset button and turn the ignition to "RUN".

The dash will light up and all the gauges will dance around. Then some codes will be displayed in the odometer window. Write them down and post them here.

Here's a thread with the codes listed.

I would interpret that to mean that there was an "Ignition UNLOCK circuit rationality check" problem 7 starts ago.

That suggests the instrument cluster is unaware of any problems with the speedometer.

When you ran the test, did the speedometer sweep it's range?

07 Wait to start indicator output circuit shorted

A6 Ignition UNLOCK circuit rationality check

Sounds like you have a short at the wait to start indicator circuit. I would recheck all the lamps and connectors for the speedo. Might pull lamps that are near the wait to start light.

In my opinion, the 07 indicates the number of starts since the code A6 tripped.

it does not make it all the way to the max speed it stops about 5 mph short and then returns to the 5 or 6 mph spot one dealer said that if you turn the cluster upside down for long periods of time that it will mess it up and that is what I am affraid of now scared of what replacement will cost

You may be right - guess if it continues to add up with more starts we will know for sure.

I know it is a long shot, but maybe disconnecting batteries for a while would reset things?

I'd suspect an intermittent ground problem. The bulbs you replaced, were they the same wattage and voltage? And did you make sure to get the connections snapped back together properly? I've see some accessories that would cause ghosts in the dash when activated, but when turned off, everything returned to normal. The TST Powermax's will sometimes cause the AC to not ground properly if grounded to the dash inside the truck, too. Did you add any other accessories while doing the bulbs?
