I have changed the speed sensor twice and tightened the output shaft nut but the speedometer will work fine for about 3 weeks and then starts jumping all over the place again making it impossible to use the cruise control. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I also cleaned and lubed the adapter.

Thanks, Rod

Demon Dodge,

try cuting off the factory plug and just replace them with a good quality quik connect and seal it, you'll have to try a couple different sizes to get the on that fits tight on the senders pins.

i found that the pin in my plug although it looked good was broken inside and making intermitent contacked,

speedometer troubles

Take the entire sending unit out of the transmission. Separate the pinion gear housing [ the part that bolts directly to the trans. ]from the rest of the unit. Clean the hollow tube end where the square speedo cable slides in. Use a light and inspect the area in the tube that mates to the short square cable. The tube is pinched square about 1/4" from the top, sometimes this "square" becomes rounded and lets the cable slip, grabs again and then slips again until it stops functioning altogether.
