The speedometer on my 1999 Ram will not work under 30 mph. The anti skid warning light also comes on. The speed sensor in the transmission has been changed but the problem still remains. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know how to repair the problem?

Thank you

Welcome to the TDR Forums, dj. I don't have any suggestions, but I'm sure you will get some responses here in the 2nd Gen Forum.

Dean, the most probable cause is the speed sensor in the top of the rear axle center section. This is where the wheel speed is picked up for the rwal or abs brakes and that signal is also used for the speedometer. I have seen the wiring harness jumper from the frame to this sensor go bad too. Good luck.

dj, pull the lube plug in the diff. and see if the magnet has any metal particles on it. My speedometer and anti lock light started cutting up, turned out I had some bad bearings in the diff. and the metal was collecting on the probe and causing it to malfunction. bg
