I'm searching for a new rearend to replace my spicer 70 with 4. 10(My housing is shot). I have found one locally and I beleive it is a 60, but It has a 12 bolt cover. Did 60's come in the diesels?? I'm worried it might be to light of a rearend. Are the yokes the same in all 94+ trucks?? I'm hoping this will be a perfect fit, and no changes will be needed. What rearends have the 12 bolt cover???

ok, my investaigations seems to show that the 12 bolt cover is dodge's 9. 25 rearend. I am assuming this is to light for the diesel??

Stick with a 70 or 80

The 60 rear is a weak unit.

I have just finished rebuilding a "junk" yard dana 70 for my truck.

750. 00 for the worn out rear end with a power -lok. (out-right /no exchange)

850. 00 to put new clutches,seals and bearing's (Timkin).

It was out of a 2000 so the brakes ,backing plates, parking brake cables, and hubs all different. The 2000 ends up being 2" wider from the surface of hub to surface of hub.

For all the trouble I have gone to avoid mid week down time I could have rented a truck for work and been bucks ahead.

check the numbers on the housing to be sure you are getting what you want.

here's a good web site for checking the numbers
