Speedi-sleeve and spicer nut conversion

KSB wiring harness

I decided to take apart my rear brake shoes today and would like to upgrade to the Spicer lock nut set-up. Problem is that I can't find anyone that has them. To those of you that have gotten them, where did you get them???

Here's the #'s, (Thanks Case 500D)

Spicer Nut 35270

Lock washer 35269

Thanks,

Chris

No Progress

Went to the dealer, to see if they could come up with them. After searching for a while I decided that if they could find the old ones, I'd go with them. He figured up the bill and I lost all feeling from the waist down, my knees literatly buckled with the sticker shock!!

$36 per nut :--) and $4 per locking tab:--)

Needless to say, I left with no parts and no help. :{

I thought that someone said you could get them at NAPA . There was a post about this about a month ago I think . You might do a search on it and find out more . There was a post about this about a year or so back also . A good independent parts store should be able to get them for you .

Dieselman-

I would think you could order them from NAPA, Carquest or Big A to name a few. Since you have part #'s might be able to order from Pete, KW, Freightliner too.

I was at Napa today gettin' everything else, and they couldn't cross the Spicer #'s with theirs. I also was at Tractor Trailer Supply and had the parts man look, he showed me that the numbers were skipped over for some reason. (ex. 1... 2... 4... 5... )

I've been tryin' to think of a local 4X4 shop or someone who deals with installing lockers or something else along those lines.

I have been told but I have not confirmed that the Dana 60 front axel retaining nuts will work on the Dana 70 rear but you will need to use the special socket for the nuts.

Spicer p#s

Inner Spindle Collar Part # 660568

Outter Spindle Collar Part # 621027

Spindle Nut Lock Washer Part # 621028

10-4 They will work.

That is what I am runnin on my rear 70.

Any 4WD shop that carries Dana 60 Stuff should have them.

Or call Jims Off Road Center

865-482-6912 Ask for Jim

He is a TDR member and should be able to take care of you.

He has them hanging on the wall and could box them up and ship them to you.

Plus tell him you have a stack and he'll give you a discount

And or tell him RC Cola sent ya ... ..... well he may hang up on ya hahah.

He'll treat ya right

Have a great day

Napa has the nuts/tab washers.

ust measure the spindle diameter. Or they can look it up for an older ford. Try not to confuse them by using terms like " spicer or dana". You can look in there buyiers guide and pick them out of the pictures. They cost me about fourty dollars for the nuts and tab washers. Mark

spicer parts

:) Hi rwsj, did they recently change the spicer numbers? My receipt shows nuts no. 35270 at 12. 00 ea. and tabs no. 35269 at 1. 53 each. These nuts take a 2 1\2" socket otc# 7158 at 23. 14ea. If you guys can't find these, here is the phone number of Six States in Portland Ore 503 249-1010 and you can ask for a 800 number, they may have one. I have been running these nuts and tabs for a year now and these are the correct numbers. Ups shipping from Six States can't be that much, these are not heavy parts. Tim

Just bought these yesterday and put them on this morning. Got them from my local Spicer dist. Nylon nut and lock pin.

that explains it

:) Oh, I see. Your numbers are for a differant nut and pin. Mine are for the old system. Thanks for clearing that up for me! I didn't like the nylok syatem. Tim

Many Thanks

Gentlemen, I must say that I can't even tackle a project without your help. you guys always come through for me, and for that I am greatful.

I ended up turning the drums, getting new wheel cylinders (Napa p/n 36057 and 36058), new lifetime shoes (Napa p/n AE-358R), and seals (Napa p/n 30033) These seals are not the ones that are referenced on Case500D's website. I'm not sure if there is a different seal between 3/4 and 1 tons, but the seals that Case 500D refers to were too small. Dad says that it seems like every 1 ton has a different seal.

Now to the point of this whole post:) the nuts, so to speak. Anyway, thanks to jbolt for the Dana 60 p/n's and the pictures. Thanks to Tim1 for the parts source, and thanks to RCCola also. Sorry Tim1 but I went with RC's source for no real reason other than Tenn. being closer to me than Portland. Jim's is a first class operation, I didn't even get the words out of my mouth before he knew what I was talking about. And the best part of it all, not only is this a better set-up than the old nylock system, but ya'll forgot to tell me that it is way CHEAPER!!!!:D (I'll leave it at that)

Anyway, thanks again fellas.
