2 pulls in a row I have broken my spider gears.

On the way back from Franklin, I thought something was up but it drove down the road fine. .

Spider gears are all shot, the cross piece is broke, ABS ring is shot.

Only thing that is good is the carrier & ring & pinion.

I just had the spider gears replaced last week. .

Now what do I do?

Let me know what you suggest...

Thanks!

Detroits are stout. Terry Martins lasted at over 1000hp for a while... . :--)

Untill schied 2004 then she said i am done

Get a detroit it will help to spread stress over the whole axle

Travis

Just take 5 min and pull an axle to double check I have seen some odd ball stuff in some of these trucks.

Josh

unrelated to the spider gears, you should probably add some ladder bars or stiffer axle support because at 150 ft the rear axle had moved far enough forward to rub the bed sides. It also will make the truck hook harder and transfer weight better.

Didn't know they could move that far! I'll get on the traction bars ASAP.

Garrett,

I knew you broke something!!

Do what Josh says:

Get some traction bars and block that suspension.

Also you need to bump down to 33" tires to control that hop a little better.

Detroit locker will be going in on Tuesday... You guys never mentioned anything at the pull about that noise

I have some 33's, but they are on 16. 5 rims, and one is cracked. . I'll see what i can come up with.

Hoping to get traction bars on for the June 10th DHRA pull.

I have Timbrens, and you seemed to have good luck with them! :-laf

I wouldn't be afraid of the 35" tires, it isn't neccessarily the size of the tire as much as the tread pattern. A real aggressive tread is gonna have a tendancy to hop more than say just an AT. Garret probably needs the 35's to help with the 4. 10 ratio unless he wants to run 4200+ with his set up. Justin do you know anything about the GreenCasstle pull this friday?

I didnt realize the noise until I got a good look at the video.

Dan,

The Greencastle pull is ITPA and they want driveshaft loops on all of the joints plus some other junk. Right now I am just pulling non-sanctioned.

The pull yesterday the told me if I showed I would hook either in the ITPA class, or if enough trucks showed they would have a street class. I have a rear u joint shield, and fuel shut off, they said I could hook one time with that. Today after work I hope to get the rest of the u joint shields done and finish up the driveshaft loops. The one thing that is tuff for me to understand is the transmission blanket. I just don't see how it will go on there and not get tied up in the linkages and everything else.

How much bigger is the A5000 than the SPS66??
