2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission spindle threads

Does anyone know the metric? thread size on the spindle? When I pulled my hub apart yesterday the nut came off real stiff and the threads appear to be somewhat galled. The nut doesnt spin back on by hand either. Id like to try to find a die to chase the spindle, and either a tap for the nut or possibly just buy a new nut. Thanks!

Go with a new nut, and go borrow a thread file from a mechanic friend.



Most any tech that works on truck or trailer axles has them, they are also available in metric. Used to use one all the time when I was on the floor in a truck shop.



Each file will have 8 sections, each of those sections has its own thread pitch. Match the section to your particular thread pitch and file those nasty spots right away.

Thanks for the idea, Mike. I may try that if I cant find the thread size. Weve got some pretty good sized metric taps and dies at work, but with the threads being the way they are even the right die isnt going to just spin on and I dont want to force the wrong size on. Im guessing theyre a 1. 00 as they look like a finer thread.
