Hey Michael,
Never heard of the filter, but man did you go with a completely different truck this time around! I was looking at your signature and remembered you had a QC 4x4 before. Did you get into too much trouble off-roadin'? #ad

Hey MichaelT,
I don't know if the spinner II is available for our cummins yet, but we have been using them in the heavy truck market for about two years now. They seem to be simple and inexpensive to maintain. Everyone of my customers loves them.

MikeR, I had to get rid of my 99 QC 4x4 because it was jarring my teeth loose. I, like most people who buy 4x4 trucks, hardly have a need for a 4x4 truck. It costs $3000 and you lug around the extra weight in degraded ride quality, but it does look good. I actually drove a friend of mine's 2000 4x2 truck and fell in love. Since I don't have any kids yet, I don't actually need a QC. I have found that the 4x2 reg cab 6speed is very zippy and much more fun to drive. I can't get enough of driving. I suppose this new truck of mine will be a sporty version of the Cummins/dodge truck.

It seems that the Spinner II Centrifuge oil cleaner is a favorite among big rig OEMs. They have a remote system available that could probably be used in place of my Amsoil dual remote bypass filter. As a side note, after 5,000 miles on my bypass filter setup and oil, the oil was very black. I was not impressed with the remote bypass unit. I might use the adapter to connect to a Spinner II if I get creative enough. I would rather see someone else do it first. Cheers!

THE SPINNER FILTER IS THE BEST FILTER OUT THERE. I HAVE BEEN A DIESEL MECH FOR 25 YR'S
THE LAST 8 MAINT. DIR & PARTS. WE RAN THEM ON CUMMINS,CAT & DETROIT. STARTED TO USE THEM IN 72. THE FIRST GEN. HAD TO BE MOUNTED SO THE OIL WOULD FLOW BACK DOWN TO PAN. THE SPINNER 2 HAS TO HAVE AIR SUPPLY TO PUSH OIL BACK,BUT CAN BE MOUNTED ANY WHERE.
HAD ONE ENG. THAT HAD A HIGH BUILD UP AND FOUND ANTI-FREEZE WAS SEEPING PAST THE LINER O-RINGS. WITH OTHER FILTERS WOULD NEVER HAVE FOUND IT TILL THE SAMPLE CAME BACK OR THE COLLPAS OF THE PAPER FILTER.

Guys, check out the installation. I don't see why this couldn't be adapted to our Cummins. I wander where we would tap for the oil pressure?

And here is the answer to my email:
Marty, the Model 25-4CV is the Spinner model for your pickup. The installation has merit, although there is work required to initially install one of these. The problem is that the Model 25-4CV is a gravity drain unit so the return oil needs to be returned to an atmospheric oil pressure point on the engine block or pan. On the 5. 9, the usual method is to modify the turbo oil return piping to incorporate another pipe to return the Spinner's oil to. Also, the Spinner requires a horizontal mount as well as an oil supply hose. The oil supply is not a problem, there is an oil supply port on the oil filter head designed for this purpose. Cummins requires a 30 psi low oil pressure cut-out valve for any bypass oil filtration device attached to the 5. 9. The Model 25-4CV incorporates this device internally so it meets Cummins requirements. The cost of the Model 25-4CV is $US252. 56. This amount includes UPS ground freight to anywhere in North America. Payment by credit card is accepted by Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Thanks for your inquiry, Sean Aughey, Oiltech
