Just received my new Spinner II via UPS today ..... Okay What is a Spinner II. It is a Centrifugal oil bypass filter that is supposed to filter down to 1/10th of a micron and is supposed to filter 9/10 gallon per minute of oil. So here's the deal. Once I figure out how to fabricate a baseplate I'm going to install the unit with my old oil to see how good a job of filtering this unit does in cleaning up my filthy oil. I'll drive it for a few hours check the oil cleanliness via dipstick and then pull the bowl to see what kind of chunks it will filter out from my dirty oil... . I'll keep you posted. . (by the way it's a Spinner II model 25).

Well... Bushwakr. . kinda funny that you mention that because the unit comes without a mounting bracket/drain-pipe. I'm sitting here right now looking at it thinking about going to the hardware store to look for some "inspiration". I'm hoping that this will be the "Holy Grail" of oil filtration in that it requires no filter element and all Diesel OEM's seem to be adopting it as standard equipment. I promise, I'll try and expedite this project and will repost with my definitive test results ... two catagories:

chickensalad... ... OR... ... Chicken%#&*

We run these things on 86 pieces of equipment with synthetic oil on the extended change plan, the carbon particles left in the unit is amazing but do use the little paper inserts as the carbon compacts so hard you need a chisel to get it out. Installation is a pain and Spinner I had a drain plug to make it easier?? Dont know why this feature was eliminated. PK

the ammount of oil going through per minute(9/10 Gal) seems high for a bypass filter, does anyone know how much is too much for a stock oiling system to handle?

According to the spec sheet that I have it is basically up to 9/10th gallon per minute. The 9/10th gallon figure is for 90 psi. . 5 GPM is the charted flow for 40 PSI.

Ordered the unit from Industrial Diesel products in Westo, Ontario, Canada. Number is 416-745-9379 and the cost of the unit was $322. 00 US. Don't worry I'll be monitoring the oil pressure and if it is too low will take action from there. I saw one on a 2nd genner and no mention of problems with the same unit...

Wow! That appears to be an effective unit. I have an Amsoil BE-100 bypass filter installed underneath my turbocharger. I have short paths for the incoming and outgoing oil. I mounted a fitting in one of my valve covers and run the return oil there instead of all the way to the oil fill tube. It seems to be working well.
