Competition 'Splain Sled Pulling and rules

Can anyone tell me where to find info or give me info on sled pulling?



What classes are they? What class would a lightly-modded truck be in, compared to say, Big Bad Dodge?



What about the turbine-powered tractors?



What weights do the sleds run?



How many feet is a pull/full pull?



Etc, etc!



Always wanting to learn!

Classes will depend on the organization, for trucks though it's usually limited by the inducer size on the charger. Like 2. 5, 2. 6, 2. 8, or 3. 0... . And your truck weight is limited by class too, usually around 8-8500lbs for diesel trucks.



I think the sleds generally are in the 35-40,000 lb range... but I could be wrong on that...



300ft is a full pull, or they could have an open gate. Meaning longest pull wins, even if it's over 300ft.

Check out National Association of Diesel Motorsports for events. The closest all Diesel show,pulling/racing/dyno to Jersey is July 18th at Numidia dragstrip.





There are literally dozens of smaller pulling event snear Jersey, check out county fairs for Diesel classes.
