Any of you ever heard of splitting a manifold for a Cummins six cylinder? Would It sound like a chevy six split??Don't like a fake dual exhaust. That bull. :-{}

It is split with two outlets that are properly paired for the firing order. However, with one turbo, there is no reason for dual exhaust.

That don't answer my question. Maybe I did not make myself clear. Anyone ever split a exhaust manifold on a cummings engine. What did It sound like?I am not talking about fake duals.

Are you planning on running twin turbo's into seperate exhausts? Otherwise your exhaust will still still cross into a single passage where it runs through the turbo. What will it sound like, not like a chevy 6 w/duals, that was a gas motor.

Its a good question---There is no prettier sound than an old 220 or 250 cummins with a split exahust maniford. I don't know if the turbo would work with just the exahust off 3 cylinders.

Cummings is what you search for on e-bay for cheap parts..... Nobody else ever looks there and man can you get some sweet deals on intakes and exhausts.....

Are you sure they were split? Not saying you haven't seen one, but after driving a bunch of them old buggers, I have never seen or heard of one. I think what you might be talking about is the sound of a backdraft manifold. Rather than a center exit, they were built like a header and all 6 exhaust ports flowed to the rear, then exited. Beautiful sound, sigh, I miss them old days :)

Kenneth, the guys are just hurrahing (sp) you, when you spell Cummins (Cummings) they will zero in on that :)

In order to split the Cummins manifold, you would need two turbo's, cuz all the exhaust needs to pass thru the turbo(s). A good friend of mine had a 1966 Ford pickup w/300 six and the Clifford header, cam and small 4bbl carb. She was a sweet sounding/running old girl, the truck and her :)

Those boys are not smart enough to **** me off. When I was In high School I split a dodge 6 cylinder manifold on a 49 Dodge I had. Boy did It sound great. You could buy fake duals back then and everyone would laugh at you. Nothing sound better then a six with a split on It. Maybe that to deep for these guys????

Nick it was 56-ACAR with two 6" crome stacks, I almost had an Organism when he went by-never heard one again. You are right them old backdrafts all sounded good,I too miss those old days. caw

Something thats even better then the sound, is seeing about a foot of fire above the stack. The old 220, backdraft manifold, roots blower and 275-320 pump would give you goose bumps when you started into a good pull and you could see the glow in the mirrors in the evening :)
