Ok guys, just a few questions about sponsorships... .

I am trying to get more competitive in pulling, I have seen some people with sponsored trucks, and was wondering

A. How does one go about getting sponsors

B. What does sponsorship entitle (the perks)

C. Whats the catch if there is one

Just a few questions I had, any advice or answer is appreciated

Kevin

Kevin,

The sponsors are looking for someone that can sell their products. A face/name/truck that is famous among the dieselheads. What about you will give a company a reason to spend some of their advertising budget on you?

Some hints: self promotion; get stories and pictures in magazines, e-magazines, your own website and on the boards. Build an image; look professional, act professional, be professional. Build a fan base; when you do well at self promotion and achievements (championships, race/pull wins) people are going to want to watch you-then you become a product that can sell.

Thanks guys, I will have to see what i can do to make a name for myself. Whats the best way to get the word out, I know a website, but will winning local pulls and entering DHRA events do the trick, or is there more.

Track performance is important to some extent, but the main component of a well organized sponsorship proposal is to convey to your potential benefactor what you can accomplish for them in real world positive exposure.

Here is a simple outline I use

1 what I have done in the past positive, that generative exposure.

List your accomplishments in racing , or what ever, show that you do community service projects , show that you do what you say you will.

2 what the proposed program will consist of, equipment, venues, dates, and opportunities to generate positive public image for them.

Tell them in detail what you can do for them , how this will generate the public awareness of their product. Not that you are the baddest and will bring home a big trophy, remember this is a business deal, and you need to convince them the dollar spent on you is better spent then a ad in the local news paper or on TV.

3 what I need from you to make this happen. You only get to dip in to the well once , so make a realistic list of what it will take to race or pull, discuss their being a associate sponsor if they are limited to a smaller amount then you need to do it right, remember you selling space on you uniform and truck , and the rights to use that in a positive manor for them, not how many stock head bolts sets you need to run , ill help any one that would like to see the proven proposal I use PM me
