I want to make my truck look like the sport edition. Like the one guy from CT. Where can i get the front end treatment- (bumper cover, etc) I also have the black bodyside trim and the black tailgate thing- i noticed that they are put on with double sided tape. Did anyone do this yet, and do you have any pictures? How much will it run?

I think you're looking for ToolManTimTaylor. I believe you need the bumper cover, bumper, and grill because they are different. Get ahold of ToolMan he can help you.

It is pretty costly to do, you need all new brackets in the front also for the sport bumper... I'm sure TMTT will chime in here. The last I looked into it, I was looking at 1700 for just parts... still have to get them painted!

I have the sport and hit a mailbox while going 2 MPH. Completely demolished the bumper and shoved the reinforcement up into the light. They may look good but that is all the good they do. just for the skin and half of the brackets and reinforcement would have came to 1100. That was getting at cost. BTW that does include painting but regardless, you would still need the grill and other brackets too.

nitrox2595,

There were earlier sport version trucks that used body colored grill, bumper, and plastic bumper undershield (name) that were identical to the chrome and grey plastic parts yyou have. They had the black top cover just like yours. You could buy an unchromed plastic grill in ebay for not much, new plastic underpart, and either dechrome or possibly scuff up the chrome and paint the parts to match your truck. You'd then have a facsimile '97 -'98 sport model if you remove the bodyside molding entirely. One of mine is (was) a '98 sport model and there's a picture of it in the gallery. I can't give you any other picture of it because it's all torn apart in my shop now.

I have also completed a 99+ Sport Conversion. Unless you can find the parts used you are going to spend over well over $1000 to complete the front end conversion. It includes the bumper with all brackets, grille, and headlights. If you shop around for the parts and you are patient, you can probably get away with spending $700-$800.

cooker, U got any pics?????????I just got my state farm check for the silly little lowrider integra that pulled out in front of me while i was doing 35. so im ready to fix it. I pulled out most of the bumper with a bobcat and a chain... :D post some pics if you can or email them to me a -- email address removed --

The pics I have are nothing special. It now looks like a 99+ front end, with the exception of the grille due to fitment issues with 97 and older trucks with AC. The 99+ Sport front end should bolt right on your 98. 5 without any modfications.
