I'm expecting my new 01 2500 to arrive any day now and have a headlamp question. I have seen several threads where folks have replaced their stock headlamps with the ones that come in Sport models but all of these threads discuss doing this on pre 1998 models and involve cutting sheet metal to make these fit. My question is has anyone out there replaced their stock headlamps in a 00 or 01 with the Sport headlamps? If yes, besides the headlamps what parts do I need and does this involve any cutting to make these fit? My younger brother just got in a 01 1500 Sport and I really like the lights and would like the same in my 2500 but I don't want this to be a "hack" project.

I just changed my 98. 5 sport grille/fascia to a 2001 sport front end. Took about 3 hours. The hardest part was removing the old style front end! You'll need 2 new bumper brackets, a steel bumper that goes behind the fascia, 2 extension bars that bolt to the ends of the steel bumper, 2 new fog lights, a lower stamped metal piece that bolts to the bottom of the steel bumper(also holds bottom of fascia), the grille, and the fascia. The grille will come painted, the fascia will not. It was a Saturday afternoon project, all went well, even lined up the fascia on the first try!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes the new style Sport frontend. My Dad didn't care for it (he's a "I like chrome" kinda guy).
Just one note; For some reason, people tend to do double-takes when they hear that Cummins fire up. I guess most people don't think Diesel and Sport go together! I've also heard some owners say that they think the non-fluted lens (as on the Sport)seem brighter.

I performed my Sport headlight upgrade on my 2001 about three months after I bought the truck. It was very straightforward, no cutting required. You should remove the bumper trim piece on top though. If you don't, you will scratch the plastic because it is a tight fit. The Sport headlight assemblies come with all the required parts including bulbs, retainers, and rubber weatherstripping. The headlight units list for around $205 each, but you should be able to get them for trade price, which is around $160 each. You will have to add a relay circuit to light the high beams, the way the factory does it, so you don't melt the headlight switch. The factory relay on the Sport is in the PDC, I mounted mine next to it inside the fender. You could probably buy the harness for the Sport headlights, but it would probably be expensive, and difficult to install in the stock configuration because of the existing wiring in the PDC. I also jumpered out the dimmer switch on the column so the lo beams stay on with the hi beams. I had to do this because of the H. I. D. lighting system I installed. I'm very happy with the way they turned out. Hope this helps. Rich

Thanks for the info... . but I electrical is not my strong point, do you have any kind of diagram that shows what/how needs to be added for wiring? Also whats a "PDC"?

Well guys let me ask you this 695. 00 for Everything (allready have the grill and bracket. ) meaning the facia , sport steel bumper , both brackets, both auxiliary brackets , bolts nuts headaches and no paint. Sweet deal no?

Kevin, PDC stands for "power distribution center" and it is located on the drivers side inner fenderwell. When I did my conversion, I had a factory wiring diagram at my disposal. This helped quite a bit. I'll see if I can make up a diagram with some instructions and get it out to you. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me. Rich.

Could somebody provide us with a complete parts list for the Sport conversion? I've been trying to get a list of what's required for months and nobody seems to be able to provide the info. Dealers will promise it and then never call me back.

If I could get all the parts for $695, I'd be there ASAP. #ad
