Does anyone out there know if I have to buy the whole assembly with mounting brackets ( buckets ? ) to convert or can I just buy the much cheaper headlights and corner lights only and use my old buckets ?

Thanks !

You don't need the sheet metal. The buckets on your truck can be easily cut for the sport assys to fit. Not a major cutting, did mine with a sabre saw in a few minutes a side. Hard part was getting old light assys out.

You need the following aftermarket parts from the link you posted:
  • Part No: 3341102RUS (replaces OEM P/N 55077024A__)
  • Part No: 3341102LUS (replaces OEM P/N 55077025A__)
You also need to come up with wiring to accomodate the four bulb Sport lamps.

You do not need to cut any sheet metal on the model year 2001 Ram in your signature.

dblake do keep us posted as I've been wanting to do this to my 99. I'm seeing like $142. 11 for each "assy".

Thomas - what's the diff between the two parts OEM 5507024 AG & 25AG and the "Replaces" OEM part numbers of the same number - I'm confused. There's no pictures:{

OK now I'm really confused? Using dodgepartstore part numbers - I guess I mean what's the difference between # 334102RUS Headlight RH w/corner, w/sport @ $68. 67 and #D100125 Headlight RH w/corner, w/sport, "ASSEMBLY"? Does assembly mean the bucket is included - maybe it's best to call DDP for their reply. If I get a chance to I'll call tomorrow

I already called and they said the first one is headlight and corner light only ( no bulbs or buckets included ) and the assembly comes with bulbs and buckets , which I think I may buy and try to use my old buckets like some people have done and save close to $200 doing it . ;)

If by bucket you are referring to sheet metal, the sheet metal is identical on Sport & non-Sport Rams model year 2001. Item #1 in the attached jpeg from the model year 2000 parts catalog shows the LAMP, Headlamp Park And Turn. It is an Assembly. It is what you will get if you order P/N's 3341102RUS & 3341102LUS from dodgepartstore.com or P/N IVMAX3341102USC from importvision.com. These aftermarket lamps are Depo brand. Search the TDR for Depo and you will find lots to read.

That P/N #D100125 from dodgepartstore.com is likely some other manufacturer, although Depo is the only one I've seen before. A call to dodgepartstore.com may give you a bit more confidence.

I have the P/N IVMAX3341102USC from importvision.com transplanted into my model year 2000 Ram.

I have a wiring diagram that I received from another TDR member. I'll try to post it.

edit: Sorry it is for pre 1999 trucks.

I think you will find that the plastic peices (sic) with headlight adjustment screws, lenses, and reflectors are all one piece. Item #1 in the jpeg (lifted from the Mopar parts catalog) will only break down into two pieces—the headlamp and the corner lamp. What you are calling the bucket is integral with the lens and reflector—they're glued together.

The Depo brand lamps (P/N's 3341102RUS & 3341102LUS) DO include the required 9004 & 9007 bulbs.

I bought my Sport headlights from Import Vision. Paid around $210 for the pair and they came as complete assemblies with bulbs and corners. They came fast and I recommend Import Vision.

The alternative (one of them anyway) to the Depo brand is Wagner (as I remember). That's what was molded into the back part of the envelope (lens and black back half) of both my original single bulb headlights and the sport versions that replaced them. I believe Wagner is the OEM.

Beware of cheap aftermarket brands. They don't hold up as well because they aren't as robust.

I just did this conversion last week and went with the $68 beauties. They come with the headlight assembly, corner lights, plastic 'bucket', the gasket that seals against the grill ssemble and both bulbs (the turn signal bulbs were not included). I also purchased replacement tails since I had one that was cracked and the delivered cost was around $220 for everything. I was very impressed. Since I was working on the '95 I had to do some sheet metal work but that didn't take too much effort. I used the Summit wiring harness and went to a junkyard and snipped a few 9004 socket assemblies and soldered them into the Summit wiring harness. I also added two sets of fog lights. I am more than happy.
