I got a set of Sport headlights for my 2500, and I've been reading a lot of posts about the instalation process and I'm just about ready to get started. What I haven't noticed is any disscussion about HID conversions for the Sport lights. I like the bright white light they throw out. Yeah they're cool but thats not the reason for me to have them, I want to see down the road with comfort. If it is being done then some suggestions on a quality HID kit would be helpfull. I know there's a lot to choose from and a lot of crap out there as well. I would require a good quality kit.

Thanks,

Ron

To be legal with HID you need a reflector and headlight assembly designed for HID. An HID bulb puts the light source in the wrong spot for the reflector so while it's brighter the beam pattern is all wrong.

IMO, I think a whole new headlight assembly works wonders... I like the projector style headlamps... they project a flat beam out for low beam, and then have a separate 55w Halogen, which can be upgraded to 100w easily, that comes on for high beam, and it works much better. About as good as the newer third gen trucks, I think.

My attempt at the headlight conversion was a great success. I got a parts list for firefighter_2000s wire harness and all went together very smoothly in about 90 minutes. In all, it took about 4-5 hrs. and I could not wait till it got dark. Wow! What a difference, with the Silver Star Ultra bulbs I can see clearly the road ahead. It is well worth the time, expense and effort to do this mod.

The sport conversion will give you all the light you need, it is a huge upgrade over the non-sport headlights. You do not need special bulbs (PIAA etc.) they are a waste of money. Make or buy a good wiring harness that provides power direct from the battery and you will be a happy camper.

I did the sport headlight upgrade and then added a pair of Hella lights on the front of my bumper, between the two I swear I see the grass growin in the ditch as I drive down the road :-laf
