 A couple of weeks ago I purchased item # 1874784167 on ebay which was a pair of headlights for the dodge ram pickup. Before I bid on them I asked the buyer what price he had on the Sport headlights for 99-2001 and he emailed a response that they were the same price. Receiving that e-mail I pay pal ed him the money to pay for them $118. 85. along with the information. I asked him to Send them to me down here in Florida since I would rather put them in here than at home in Missouri. A few days later he emailed me back that he needed my Florida address again as he only had the Missouri address so I emailed it to him a second time. I have been waiting for them and surprise: TONIGHT I get an e-mail from them that they want another $177. 05 for them now .    so they can order them. That makes them a total of $296. 90. The name of the company is Part Mart One.com. Beware. I have asked that they refund my money immediately. I will keep you posted whether they honorably do that or not.

I would think they have to eat it. Ebay states that they are in a binding contract. Of course it would cost you more in the long run to fight it than to get your money back and leave negative feedback for them. Good luck, I don't think pay pal will represent you either. The seller has to want to refund the money. If they refund it within a certain time they won't get charged anything for the transaction.

The photo of the headlight is not a sport headlight. They could just sent you the non sport headlights and say that is what you bid on. I bought some sport headlights with corner lights like this on Ebay:

Sport headlights

I have received them and they look pretty good. They are made by Depo Autolamps in Twain and came with bulbs. They do have DOT labeling. I have not compared them to stock sport headlights yet. I paid the starting bid price. They were shipped fairly fast from Southern Cal. to Southern Cal.

Hope it works out for you. If you used a credit card through PayPal, contact the card company and tell them you never received the item. Refuse delivery if they send them to you. Ebay worlds largest fencing site.

Cary:cool:

I know the lights pictured are not sport. That is why I e- mailed them to see if they had sport and how much. they e mailed back that they did and they were the same price. I also e mailed and asked about volumn purchasing for the tdr guys and the guy emailed back the name of the man that owns the company and told me I needed to call him and ask him about that and that he was a really nice guy. I have all this saved on my computer in Missouri, 1200 miles from here. So far I have not received any response from them as to what they are going to do including refunds. I tried to contact ebay but got a message that the ebay window would not open because the server I am using here is programed not to accept cookies. I will try to contact them from my daughter's computer in Jacksonville (3 hrs. North) tonight.

ebay, the epitome of "caveat emptor"

Ebay USED to be a place where you could buy 1 of a kind, or used merchandise from private parties who are just getting rid of stuff they no longer need. Now there are thousands of would-be internet e-tailers operating out of their bedroom, these people by and large are lazy, stupid, get rich quick types who have no real investment in any retail establishment, no capital, no server of their own. In short, they use YOU to fund their operation, since no bank is dumb enough to loan them startup capital, they put things up for sale that they dont even posess yet. When you "win" an auction, they then wait for you to pay them so they can go buy the item you want. Any internet retailer that can't ship most items the next day is scamming you. Not to mention the fact that most used items on ebay sell for almost as much (sometimes more, due to fraud or just plain stupidity) as an identical new one!

Many of the ebayPros (or whatever they call these cretins that sell lots of stuff on ebay) use multiple accounts, or have friends bid their items up, especially on no reserve auctions. (thats why so many people notice that items on ebayseem to go for inflated prices).

The other new phenomenae is what a great way to fence stolen goods ebay is! The San Jose Mercury News ran a story on high tech crime, the San Jose computer crime task force told the reporter that they suspect upwards of 5% of all ebay transactions include STOLEN property. In fact, whenever cops investigate computer thefts in San Jose, the FIRST place they look is on EBAY!

Moral of the story? Use ebay for what its good for: Unique, rare, or one of a kind items, everything else (like sport headlights LOL) can be had cheaper, and FASTER (ever noticed how long it takes most of these ebayers to ship???) elsewhere.

After 6 days I finally r'cd a reply to my many emails to partmartonecom that they are going to refund my money to paypal for the sport lights.

They posted on Ebay feedback that they did not advertise sport lights and I didn't read advertisement:mad: I e -mailed them back and told them if they continue to lie about the email they sent telling me the sport lights would cost me the same price and about group purchasing I inquired about that I would create a web page posting the e- mails for everyone to see:mad: Still looking for a reasonably priced set. today makes 16 days since I paid for the lights that they never sent and 6 days since they told me they wanted $177. more than what I have paid them. anyone that wants a copy of their email send me a PS and when I am back in Missouri in a week I will forward a copy to you. Their negative feedback is running about 10% recently, much higher than before.

It sounds like the purchase was not actually on ebay because the lights offered and pictured weren't sport. However, paypal will entertain your case for 30 days. If you don't congtact them within 30 days of the transaction (winning the auction or using paypal), they won't do anything. Read up on the rules at www.paypal.com and be prepared to send them the records including all emails.

Hope this works out for you. I got burned a couple times on ebay and because the sellers strung me along, it went over 30 days before I contacted ebay or paypal, so I got no satisfaction.

dseabaugh,

you know you could always put a comment on your feedback about them scamming you and for anyone to email you to get a copy of theie email saying they would sell you the sports for same price.
