I have a 2002 ETH Ram Sport. The high beams and low beams both use the same bulb, even though there are two. Is this normal? How do I get the second bulb to light up? I believe they are both 9004 bulbs, but only the outside one lights up (it has a high and low beam in it, but shoudn't the inside bulbs light up as well, or instead?)

The extra filaments are not used by dodge.

You can get custom harnress' made by SUVLights.com

They allow you to pull power directly from the battery using relay's.

This makes the light's alot brighter!

He can also wire the harness' to light up all the bulb's in just about any configuation.

I have my aftermaket sport light's wired with all 4 low beams together and all 4 high beams together.

I did have to adjust my light's down just a tad to not offend the oncoming cars.

I have noticed premature burnout of the extra filament.

Maybe that's why dodge does'nt use them?

Are you saying that dodge doesn't use the 2nd bulb, or the 2nd filament? Mine use both filaments in the outside bulb, and none of the filaments in the inside bulb. In other words, the inside bulbs never light up at all...

Sounds like a problem

As far as I know one filiment on the inside bulb should light up while in high beam mode.

day time running light's may be another place to look for a problem if you have that option.

Check your fuses.

P. S. It can be very difficult to determine if your bulb is burned out with out replacing them.

The inboard (9004) bulbs only light when on high beams. The low beam filaments of these bulbs are not used. The only relay used for the headlamps controls the two 9004 high beam filaments.

The obvious things to check for your problem are the relay and 15 amp fuse for these two filaments in the Power Distribution Center. They are identified as QUAD HI BEAM RELAY & 15 AMP QUAD LAMP. You can easily swap the quad hi beam relay with the fog lamp relay (they're identical). The 15 amp fuse can be swapped with one of its neighbors.

If the above doesn't resolve things, then it's time to see if both bulbs went south on you. It's a lot easier to swap things in the PDC than to pull headlamp bulbs, at least for me.

Happy hunting!
