I know this has been talked about a lot, but here goes again. I have a 95 2500, to get the maxium results, do I use the 99-02 sport lights in my 95 or do they have to be for the 95 only. I know to get the suv harness, I just don't know which headlights to buy. Please help and be specific. I don't mind doing a cut out to make it fit. Thanks.

Sport headlights from 99-02 will work just fine. You will need to make the cutouts though. I got my headlights off of ebay. Around $135 shipped as I recall. Last set I got was from AMAutoparts, but it looks like their prices have gone up... :{

2001 01 Dodge Ram Sport Truck Head Light Lamp Pair NEW : eBay Motors (item 110454683417 end time Mar-06-10 13:38:33 PST)

The sport headlight conversion with the SUV lights harness has to be one of the best modifications I have done to the truck! Oo.

I just got mine delivered today. Bought them from headlight depot via ebay. Look around though because not all his auctions are created equal. Some are cheaper than others, but the product is the same. To my door with bulbs included was $168. Everything looks good and they have the adjusters. I think I read in another thread that some of the cheaper ones weren't adjust which made installing them a PITA. No fear with theses, all looks good.

Now to decide to make my harness or just buy it??

I was wondering the same thing. I priced wire at Lowes today and 12g is running around 30 cents/ft and 10g was around 40 cents/ft. Anyone know how much wire it takes to make the harness or a price comparison of the SUV headlight harness vs cost to build your own using the Danieal Stern kit and purchasing all the misc parts like wire, etc to complete the harness?

sport lights

I was also wondering how you turn them on and off. If it will burn up the stock switch, then do you bypass it and put a toggle or some other type of switch. It would be great if you could put a delay timer on them.

the SUV harness plugs into one of the old headlight sockets to get a 12V switching source for the relays, and it also lands on your battery to power the headlights from the relays, so it will not harm your headlight switch.

after you buy all the loose stuff drive around for supplies spend some more time building the harness home made its dont make sense to me, I feal the suv harness is priced fair and its a nice quality harness I bought one and I am a cheap azz when it comes to buying stuff.

peace, B.

I have not done the wiring harness myself as I got one from SUVlights, but from what I recall, you will save about $40 over purchasing the kit. Not worth it for me... :)

Every time I try to buy a suv.coms website, my computer gives me a warning that this site is unsafe and that their security certificate has expired. It recommends that I not continue as it might be a scam. Has anyone else had this problem. Thanks.

I just ordered everything for my sport light conversion last week and had a same issue when I was just trying to send them a email. but the next day did not have a problem when I ordered the harness coming this week. ????

hard to say there is a email to send to them I sent a message prior to ordering never got a response back but the order went through???

head lights

Got my wiring harness from SUV lights here in Ca. Got my headlights from Dodge because they are Dot Certified if you have to have a light inspection, it requires Dot cert's, When I got my truck fixed after getting totaled had to have a brake and light inspection for the Caifornia DMV, whick requires all lights Dot Certified, just my 2 cents;)

I am using firefox and did not get the warning, weird...
The warning happens when you go to pay for what's in your shopping cart. Firefox can't establish a secure connection to the commerce server because their security certificate expired last year. It could mean their Web manager is lazy or the site was taken over by enemy [Internet] combatants.

Security certificates issued by a "Recognized Certificate Authority" are expensive. I issue my own certificates. Both allow good encrypted sessions to take place. Same thing with an expired certificate. It gives you a warning. When you get a warning, examine the certificate. If it is otherwise OK or was issued by the vendor themselves (like I do), go ahead.

You get an encrypted connection in any case. Firefox will establish a secure connection (after warnings) even with an expired certificate.

just got my harness today ordered last week. now to wait for lights coming in and think of how to install I understand about 80% of it. harness set up looks top notch quality, arrived less than a week.
