Is it required to become dummer the higher up the corp ladder you go?

This reminds me of a great story. A buddy of mine has this grandmother that loves cats. She lives out in the country and just had a bunch of cats that she would put food out for. After awhile, the cats had reproduced so much that they were becoming a nuisance, so grandma made a list, and gave it to my buddy. I guess she wasn't too specific about whether those were the cats she wanted to keep, or the ones she wanted him to shoot. Truth be told, I don't think he was listening. Anyhow, he shot the wrong cats. Not sure what grandma did, but I'll bet she wasn't happy!!! Never did ask him if he had to shoot the rest of them.

This is all wrong!!

If this is passed, then we will need a small game license to shoot them. I call BS! As far as I see it, they're fair game with NO license!! Why would we want to make it legal and help fund the already too powerful DNR? Dont get me wrong, I'm not the ***-hole neighbor that shoots your little kids pet cat, but the strays need to be thinned out some. Dont ask me how I know a . 244 will cut them directly in half with a well placed shot.

Yer a daisy if ya do! Might explain that black eye.

I never understood why we have to by a tag for all dogs, but cats can run free. I have two strays(?) right now, causing problems, if I can get a clear shot...

"In Madison, about 1,200 people attended the Monday evening meeting at the Alliant Center - more than the 250 or so in a typical year, but less than the 3,000 or so who took part in a debate in 2000 over whether to allow hunters to shoot mourning doves.

One of the attendees was Katy Francis, who wore cat ears, whiskers, a cat nose and a sign that read, "Too Cute to Kill. " For Francis, "The cat hunting thing brought me out because it was very extreme. "

Another case of the Madison liberals crying about a problem without offering a realistic solution of their own. Who would pay for the "spay & release" government program that they suggested... . oh, let me guess, us Wisconsin taxpayers (as usual). Maybe Katy Francis should take the 2-million cute, feral cats into her home, and we'll see if she feels the same way about them a month later. :-laf

Just a little thought...

BTW, do any of y'all use the . 22 CB rounds on cats? they work great! Or so I have been told... .

Whenever I think about feral cats, I can't help but recall the timeless wisdom of that great American philosopher, Gene Tracy:

****************************

Once upon a time, a priest was walking to town. As he came up to the old bridge over the river, he noticed a youngster sitting on the edge of the bridge with his feet dangling over the water. The boy had a glass bottle full of some sort of oily liquid, and he was tilting it back and forth looking at the world through it.

As the priest got closer, he said "What have you got there, son?"

The kid replies, "This here is turpentine - the most powerful ******* liquid in the whole ****** world!"

The priest, a bit shocked by this, says "No no son, holy water is the most powerful liquid in the world!"

The kid says, "********, I'm telling you this here turpentine is the most powerful liquid in the world!"

The priest, now a bit irritated, says "Son, holy water is the most powerful liquid in the world. If you rub a bit of it on a pregnant woman's tummy, she will pass a beautiful baby boy into the world!"

The kid looks up at the priest and sneers, "Heck that ain't NOTHIN', if you rub some of this here stuff on a cat's be-hind, he can pass a ******* MOTORCYCLE... . "

ROTFLMAO! :D

I heard about the spay and release thing on the radio today. What nitwits, reproducing is only part of the problem. Feral cats killing things you don't want killed is another part of the problem that the spay and release doesn't address. I wonder if they were volunteering to pay for the spaying?

Cats ... . the other white meat. :-laf

Their whole philosophy about cats being territorial and if they're fixed they will protect their territory and not allow other cats in is a complete crock. We have two barn cats we brought here to keep the mice/ground squiral population down and we have feral cats moving in all the time anyway. I have a trap and shoot them once in the trap as it is safe for thy neighbors and the cats don't starve to death and start to stink under my porch or in my hay barn. I always give them a week or two to move on if per chance they belong to someone and sometimes they do. My plan of attack is exactly what the game and fish wildlife biologist told me to do except he told me not to give them any chance to move on.

When the rodent population starts to increase and people start complaining about that this will come full circle.

Similar to TPC, our veterinarian told me, that our barn cats were contracting distemper from strays (tomcats) wondering through and advised that lead applied appropriately ;) would be a a recommended procedure!!! Believe he did postgraduate work @ Mossberg Institute of Higher Learning (Thanks DL5treez, good one!!). Country vets do know how to handle many issues involving animals that maybe the city ones are not exposed to

I followed his prescription and it has been working :-laf

kill all of them hairy little ********!!!!! I know a guy whose neighbors cat kept doing its duty in his landscape. That cat was beheaded with a shovel and returned to its rightfull owner. You should have seen the look on his face. By the way he was warned before about it. ;) :-laf

I too prefer the Mossberg method. It does tend to lend a hand to those of us a little lazy about dispersing (raking up) of the left-overs from the administering of the veterinarial solution. Although, when feeling a little sporting, the longer, small caliber needle used to administer said solution, can yeild hours of clean-up free fun.

Hey looky there. Dl5treez is even thinking about the environmental aspects of this. Don't tell me the members or moderators of TDR aren't enviromentally conscious!

Love this post... . Brings back many a memory.

I dunno. Everything I've heard over the years is that cat dung has the wrong chemistry; it will either kill or 'maim' vegetation it is applied to. It is not like dog dung, which is usually very good for grass.

I agree it is not good for plants, it turned a few of this guys plants yellow. He said he warned him about 4-5 times, before the beheading. :-{} :--)

I guess I'm on the other side of the fence on this, but DON"T EVEN call me a liberal! :-laf

I just think this is going a bit too far. Why not attempt to fix the problem at it's source first... lazy, irresponsible pet owners. Secondly, these numbers that are put up are wack, 2million stray cats in 1 state?? Yeah right. Thats more than a HALF A MILLION more stray cats then there are deer in WI, or 1 stray for every 2. 7 people? Gimme a break. So you go deer hunting and you see 30 deer and 45 stray cats? The whole thing about protecting birds is just a cover up. Sure it would matter on an island, but not so much on the entire continent of N. America. People act like cats only kill endangerd species, when in fact they tend to kill more animals that we consider pest. You know what the number 1 killer of birds in the US is..... WINDOWS. Windows kill at least 10 times the number of birds then all predators combined. :-laf I say kill all the cats you want, but be a man and stand up and say, "Hey, I just like to kill cats. " and don't hide behind some BS reasoning. I'm an avid hunter myself, but I think an open season on Americas #1 pet is going too far. I know first hand, people throw a fit when it is a stay dog that is shot. It would only make sense to me that if you can shoot cats, then you should show dogs the same (lack of) respect.

Hey, I just like to kill cats. Don't care if they're a pet or not, I don't have any use for them. And if a dog comes around messing with mine, and it's a stray, I'll take care of him too. Is that what you were looking for???
