2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Sport Light Conversion Problem

I've just recently finished the sport light conversion and have a slight problem. Everything works great but when I turn on the fog lights, the high beam indicator becomes dimly lit. Then when I turn the high beams on and off, all four high beams stay on along with the four low beams and fogs. All the lights will go off like normal when I turn the fogs off. I think I have it wired correctly but am open to any suggestions that you may have to remedy this situation.

I assume you have OEM fog lamps. Try the fogs-on-with-high beams modification shown at the bottom of the page. I think it will allow the relays in the high and low beam circuits to unlatch when the fog lamps are lit and you switch from high to low beams. It will also allow the fogs to burn with the high beams.

I have the same problem with mine. Just never could figure out how to put it. Hope someone can help us in terms that I can understand.

I have no idea how either of you have wired the Sport lamps.



My model year 2000 Sport lamp transplant wiring is shown in my "Reader's Rigs Gallery" (sorry for the low resolution). As drawn, I believe my harness can cause the problem described by Christopher. It has to do with current flowing in the fog lamp circuit. I don't think it's enough current to cause a relay to close, but it is enough to keep a stop a closed relay from opening. A long look at the wiring diagrams in the FSM might offer some insight.



The cure is install a diode or do the modification I mentioned above.

i had this problem too... you have it wired wrong. Make sure you have the ground wire for the 9007 bulb on the center pin of the light socket. That is what I did and works perfect. the 9007 bulb uses a center ground pin, as to where the 9004 bulbs use a side pin ground.
