Has anyone seen a 3500 SRW with the sports package on it??? If so are the aluminum rims on it chrome or are they just the gray color?? From what I have seen so far I like the chrome steel wheels better than the alloys...

Should be the same aluminum wheels that any truck can have. Here's a pic of a 2500 sport with the aluminum wheels:

I sure hope they aren't chromed aluminum, if my truck ever shows up with something like that I'd be ******. .

I think DIESELMAN had some close-up pics of the aluminum wheels on his truck. Or maybe it was someone else with a blue truck. I don't remember.

kwoods,

When my parents were looking at purchasing a 2003 3500 SRW sport the wheels that come standard are the aluminum alloys. The alloys also come standard with the 2BH Larime package but you can select the chrome wheels to replace the alloys. Although I think you can't deselect the aluminum alloys in just the regular sport package. I may be wrong so if anyone knows different please correct me. Another thing I too think the chromes look a lot better than the aluminums and if I bought a new truck thats what I would want:D

I have the chromed Steel wheels, they do look good, but they are not the aluminium. I actually like the style better than the aluminum wheels. They are a hell of a lot nicer than Fords 'Argent' steel wheels.

I think the aluminium is required(sic) as part of the Sport package, wouldn't be sporty without them. They are true aluminium, interesting style, and certainly not plated, but may be lacquered.

You can get either in the Laramie, but you'll have the body colored grill / chrome crosshair, not all colored.

I'm looking for some 305 to 31570R17 tires to slap on it, any suggestions? (Other than the Goodyear MTR and BFG AT's which I am considering).

Don't discount ProComps. My wife had some BFG MT's on her Jeep, loved em. Wore them out and switched to Procomp MT's (same size) because of the price and the siping. Loves em even more. I think I may put some 33x12. 5R17 procomp MT's on mine, just gotta see if they'll fit without a lot of problems. .

Chrome (sort of) wheels

Drove a bunch of 2003 HD's this week (my dealer has six now) and one Laramie SLT had the alloy wheel de-select option for a $100 credit. Interesting that the steel "chrome" wheels are actually BLACK steel wheels with a chrome clad fitted to the front, not like my '01 gasser with steel wheels that are actually a chrome finish on a one-piece steel wheel. Must be cheaper to make to chrome cladding than whatever procedure was used to chrome the front of the wheel before.

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing... .

One SLT had the alloys; they looked OK.

Best handling truck, 3500 SRW short bed. Quick, nimble, and a big, fat rear!!!

:D
