Spray-in bed liners??

Howdy,
Do any of you folks have spray-in bed liners? I'd like to put one in my truck, but it seems there are a few different brands out there. Anyone know anyting good or bad about 'Arma Coating' or 'Rino Liner' products? Those are the two that I talked with in my area; both say the other is no good of course. Any input would be great.

Look for LineX, A friend of mine has this in his bed and to be honest with as hard as he beats on his truck the only good lookin' area is the bed. This liner seams to really do what the advertising says... and from what he said it has a lifetime guarantee. I am looking into lining my truck as well as doing the rocker panels (I run Rock throwers on all four paws). Just my two cents worth.

A friend of mine who works at an autobody shop said I should check out Bullhide as they seemed to stay more pliable over time and had a bit more surface traction when wet. I am still deciding on which to get myself. I have been told that the warrarty is through the installing dealers, not the factory. It would be a good idea to do business with someone whom you have reason to belive they will be in business for a while, regardless of the brand chosen.

I'm researching this as well. Perma-Tec seems to be a top notch liner and it's at the top of my list. As mentioned before, preparation is the most important part of the bedliner.

There was a post recently (within the past week) on this subject, i would go back and read osme of the posts from that. One thing that is definatley a must is check the quality of the shop that is doing the liner regardless of brand. As another member said, the liner is only as good as the person installing it.

I've got a Line-X bed liner. I'm very happy with it. really durable, good traction, looks great. I agree that the installer makes a huge difference on the quality on instalation, so check around and get some references.

Hi Hank, I have rhino liner, came out nice and thick, alot thicker than I've seen Line X. Been in for a year since truck was new has'nt faded, and has held up to some punishment. Loods good, but everyone must make up there own minds. Good luck.

I have had the unique experience of owning both the Rhino and the Line-X. The Line-X (IMHO) seems to be the stronger and more durable of the two. The Rhino liner was more pliable and seemed to gouge easy under very heavy loads (concrete & rock). BOTH can be damaged if you're not careful. Lifetime warranty on the Line-X yes- it's through the dealer so as mentioned choose carefully. I just had mine touched up. Also- try and get with the actual installer and get him to put a thicker coat (even if you have to pay for it) around the wheelwells and the rear of the bed, I do construction and alot of hauling of junk, and those areas seem to take the most abuse.

I have the Rhino. One thing the installer required was that the vehicle be left overnight so that he could clean it and put the vehicle into the climate controlled bay overnight. he stated that humidity and temp are critical to control to ensure proper adhesion. Ask to see some of the installers work. if they are good, they will be able to provide some references. Seeing the liners in the field is the real testimomial.

I have been researching this industry to break into it. my Dad has a autobody shop and I am looking into buying the equipment and having his people spray them for me.

the key to look for with any of the numerous brands of liners is this;

there are two methods of applying these, one uses high pressure and the other does not. the high pressure systems also use hotter heat levels, which blends the material better. if they are using a Glass-Craft, Gusmer, or Graco machine the liner will be a good one.

*linex uses Glass Craft machines and alaphatic polyurea urethane for colored applications, which I have been told is the best.
*if you plan to have it color matched, stay with the base colors(black,tan,brown,maroon). the lighter the color the more likely/faster it will fade.
*if you have one that is already faded/chalking you can bring it back to life using acetone and a rag, to wipe it down with and bring back the color.

*it will add 36-55lbs to your truck

*get a warranty.

from what I hear Linex is the best in the business. but they are franchises, and I cannot run a franchise within my Dad's franchise. so I am buying my own equipment and getting the urethane from the same company that supplies about 125 of the Linex franchises. hope this helps. #ad

When I compared the differences between Line-X, and Rhino Liner, there was a noticable difference. Went with Line-x after checking samples of the applicators work. The Line-x applications I saw showed far less runs and globs than any of the other companies. No complaints on my application, the process took about four hours, but most of that time was spent in prepping/masking as I had the do the rockers and inside the door kick plates. Truck looks great, and I don't have to worry about stone chips. The only people who don't like it are the guys that load the truck down at the feed mill. The bags will not slide on this stuff! Like it has been said by others, check the applicators work.

I have the line-x and I think it great.

Todd in regards to the aceatone (sp?). Please... . please be careful using this product. My brother was burned (flash fire) because of this stuff. It has a higher burn rate than gasoline. Sorry for the lecture... I don't want anyone to go through what my brother did.

Acetone is particularly nasty on your skin, lungs, and eyes too. For that matter, keep it away from any mucous membranes, as it will chemical burn them in no time flat. I have a solvent "cocktail" in my closet that I use for removing gunk, and I work up from the weakest to the strongest: Isopropyl Alcohol, Mineral Spirits, Trichlorofluoroethane (chlorinated brake cleaner), and then Acetone. If Acetone/TCFE won't take it off - nothing will. ;D
