New Timbrens install

Probably a dumb question?

How many drop-in liners have you seen on the side of the Hwy?How many spray in liners have you seen on the side of the Hwy?The drop-in will still dent the bed. No we don't have to much rust problems in Ca. but elseware they do.

I've had Rhino and Line-x. The Rhino I had chipped off and the dealer wouldn't warranty it. Will never go with Rhino again. The Line-x I have now peeled off one of the bed rails. I brought it back and it was fixed no questions asked. It peeled because it was prepped wrong due to my not telling them that the truck had been repainted. That was my fault and Line-x fixed it anyway.

It's like anything else you have done, it's only as good as the installer. My brother in law had a Rhino in his S10 and it was junk. I went with Line X because the local Rhino installer doesn't do good work. The product may be great but the installer isn't. The local Line X installer spent at least 4 hours on my truck and it turned out better than I expected. The other reason I went with Line X is the it's warranted by Line X not the installer unlike Rhino that is warranted by the installer.

Another option...

I know that a lot of members are happy with the professional installs. For really heavy duty requirements I agree that these are best. I use my truck primarily for camping (not with a truck camper) and the occasional Home Depot run. I used the do- it- yourself HercuLiner . For my needs this method suits me fine- and it is a he!! of a lot cheaper.

The professional liners look nicer, but for me that was not a huge issue. Look at waht your needs and wallet dictate.

My vote is for Line-X. Have had mine since 7/01 and have had ZERO problems with mine.

Some minor nicks and gouges but nothing even close to going through. I have a couple of decent dents on the inside of my bed/wheel wells from dropping concrete/lumber/etc in there and the Line-X had actually flexed to contour to the dents instead of cracking or chipping. When it is first installed, have them spray it thick, my installer charged the same price.

My installer advised that any chips, nicks, dings gouges, regardless of cause, would be fixed for free by him as long as I own the truck ( which will be until it goes to the junk yard!) I can honestly say that the only spot on my truck with out rust, is under the Line-X. Its nice, fairly none slip(just enough slip to slide stuff in and out, but not to slide under way), easy clean up, fuel/chemical resistant etc.

I even Line-X'd the bottom of my Summit Climbing tree stand for huntin! Keeps my figgeted feet quiet while in the tree, LOL.

Only down side that I have seen so far was that the black has faded slightly over the years, before I got a tonuea cover, but Armorall would bring that back according to my installer.

Hope this helps.

J-

BTW I am in no way affiliated with Line-X, just satisfied customer.

The more I read about the spray in liners it sounds like Line X is the way to go. Now My next question is Will it hold up to having metal drums slid across it? and will it hold up to having ho buckets and other heavy equipment being placed in and out of it? If not I think I may just have to go with a drop in. :(

Spray in bedliners

:-laf I've used the same Rhino Liner installer for all of my trucks through the years and have had excellent luck with this product. I'd have to agree with everyone that it's the prep. that makes the job. All the products have their own qualities and all are a super improvement over the bare bed and drop-in liner. I've always used a rubber bed mat also. My co-worker had a Line-X put in his Ford and is pleased. Either one seems to fade with time. Applying Armor All would seem to negate all the friction enhancing qualities built in to the products. Go with a reputable installer and enjoy your liner!

Whats a ho bucket? The only advantage to a drop in that I see is if you plan on tossing stuff in there that would dent the bed, in that case a drop in would add some protection for that, but what a mess with stuff sliding around on the plastic.

Buckets from a back ho and excavator, grapples and what not. I don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on a spray in liner and have it tore up in no time. I want to make sure it will hold up to having metal drums slid and rolled across it and other equipment in and out of it. I haul a lot of metal stuff. If it wont hold up like I want, than a drop in liner is the only way to go.

Oh. . gotcha. The drums are not going to hurt it but a ho bucket might make a gouge if it slid from hitting the brakes too hard. I asked my Line-X guy about the durability and their main customers are contractors that haul all kinds of stuff and want bed protection.

My installer assured me its lifetime warranty so I suppose if you gouged things up you could take it in once every 2-3 years and get them fixed.

A good idea is to show up with the stuff you haul, let them take a look and see if they will stand behind it.
