Joe Mc. .
I would agree that it is something we could do and I will remember your offer to help with it. My only question would be this... IF no one has a misfortune when we roll, then what do we do with the collection pot, donate it to charity or allow it to build for the next show?.
Andy,
Good idea to donate to a charity. Only thing is which one will be best suited for our group, we could take a vote?
I think, if not awarded, then rolling it to the next event would be good idea. We could start in the fall and if not awarded roll to the spring - if 70 trucks donate $10 = $700 at each event = $1500 - then once we hit 2 events and it's not awarded then donate it and start new the following fall. This way the $$$ never gets to be too much just sitting out there. And hopefully it would always get donated in the name of Mason-Dixon or TDR or whatever - "The Spring Fling / Fall Brawl Bunch" ???
So another thing - we'd have to figure out how to determine the award winner. We don't want it going to someone that got a flat tire or threw a universal. So it would have to be a catastropic failure that renders the truck undrivable I. E. head gasket, blown turbo, trans, rear etc - a major drivetrain failure related to the event.
And, if 2 trucks were to fail do we award to the one with the worst failure or determine percentage based on type failure and split 60/40 or whatever?
Regardless of the details I think it's a great idea and could help out with at least towing or parts. I like the donate to charity if not used idea too - very good one.
Let's try to work out some details as we go forward before the Brawl. I'm sure we won't have any problems getting folks to spend an hour or so soliciting. We will have to keep records of the folks who donated and post a "thanks to those who donated" type thing. I'm willing and able to aid you with some of this as I know it's not a walk in the park just trying to set up the event so, I'm there if needed. Let me know.
By the way - Matt and I will be shooting up to Jet Pilot's place to get his truck when it's done, Thursday, pending any unforeseen complications. "Everybody - Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well for Matt's repair".
Thanks,
Joe Mc
