Well winter has finally left us.....so last Saturday even though we have the 1/2 bath downstairs torn apart it was decided that a ride on the Can Am was in order. The Sunrise Trail from Ellsworth to East Machias was opening that day and we were going to be on it......About 125 miles round trip...

Map link here, blow it up to see the trail itself more clearly.....

Loaded the Can Am into the trailer and off we went. Had a great day, temps in the high 50's...But DUSTY, OMG it was DUSTY.......

This dog is usually white........photo taken in Machias so he was only half dirty at this point in the day.....

Wife is pretty dirty but the red hair shines through regardless.....:D

Now that you have a side by side you gotta load up and do the Hatfield McCoy trails Mike. We were down there the last weekend in April, the fellas in the cabin next to us were some Mainiacs :-laf. We shared some good bourbon around the campfire one night.

So about how many miles did you log with the Can Am? I hope it's got a good air filter!

It looks to be a good filter, I need to check it though.

Put about 130 miles on it that day. The miles click by pretty fast in it. I was shoving it a little as we got closer to the end and I was running 45 to 50 mph for several miles, what the hell as we were already filthy dirty...,..Whee Hah!!!

I would like to try that sometime.

I don't consider it hijacking at all. It makes some of these threads go in very interesting directions and I enjoy them.

I figured as much with you, Mike:cool:

I just noticed it deleted my descriptions above but not the pictures. The first two were of a bike that went off the trail and down about 100 ft ravine. Probably not worth recovering since the frame was broke in 3 places.

The second is the view from the front porch of our cabin. We've stayed at many Campgrounds down there over the years and Twin Hollow is by far the cleanest with the best views. If you guys ever decide to go I can give you a ton of pointers on where to go and where to avoid.

Wayne, I know you like history so I'll throw a few more out there. In Sarah Ann the trail literally nearly runs through a small cemetary where many of the Hatfield's were buried including Devil Anse. Several members of the family that were killed during the feud are buried here including a few young children. Some very early and primitive tombstones, like they poured the marker and drew the names out with a stick.

Wow, thanks JR! I'd like to tour that someday. I know a guy in these parts hailing from those parts who claims to be a Hatfield descendent.
Mike, may have stated before, but what's the range on that puppy? Waddya jump off trail to fill up? I didn't think they were made for that duty cycle.

Hey Mike, not sure if you guys wear helmets or not but if you do, check this out

http://www.wolfsnout.com/

The goggles and mask are customized to fit each other and work great in dusty situations. I've been at the back of a 10 machine pack on dusty trails/roads with mine. If it's dry out I don't leave home without it.
