A Night in the Chat....

Can a bank Check be BAD if????

Saw 4 Robins in the pasture yesterday and the horses are shedding. Mother Nature speaks. It was 50 degrees here today.

Mother Nature throws curve balls too. We still have two hard months to go through. Winter robin sitings have been increasing steadily for several years. There is a trend among bird species where some are expanding their range and numbers while others are deminishing. It's not so much a matter of a hard winter that will kill them off as it is a lack of food by the way.

Say it 'aint so! We want more snow out here. Waitin for the next power dump! Informal 6" rule at work (option of working to take in fresh pow) Nothin' like first tracks after a good 12"Oo. Oo. Oo.

Lovin' life at 10,000 feet!

Boston Harbor is frozen. It got to a sweaty 22 here at my house today. Last Friday morning it was -11 . Very unusual for the Boston area. Got a couple of months of "bad" weather left. :{

I'm just glad this wasn't one of Jim's famous mouth watering: "My barbeque is sooo good, you could lick the screen and taste it" threads. Good thing I had elk steak for dinner.

Twas warm all last week here, but I was in Cozumel swimmin' in tequila so I wouldn't know. Back down to 30 today.

I could almost smell the greenery today :D it was up in the low 30's. Supposed to be on the mid to upper 30's for the next week. Maybe we are going to have one of those long breakups this year with an early spring.

Hypothermoia will cause you to see stuff, at least it does me. Its been about 10 above for a high here for about a week.

I HATE WINTER!! Christmas... ok lets have some snow. After that, it should warm up to 70° and 50% humidity for the other 51 weeks.

You guys would have a better day if you were a little more optimistic.

I went to Cody today for groceries and I saw a road killed Racoon. Those artic robins must have woke him up. Also saw a flock of Horned Larks. Didn't see any Prairie Dogs though. When I see a white tail prairie dog winter is over.

Sure am glad to be out of those PA winters QRTRHRS. I spent 51 of them in that state. Some day when I find them, I have some pictures I'll post of PA winters. 6 months of every year was not fit for man or beast. I have spent 17 winters in Montana and Wyoming without wearing a coat to go shopping. Or had to plow snow out of my drive way. Not Once!! November, December and January is winter, then its mostly shirt sleeves till our first 100 degree day sometime in May. Me and my kids went to school in Bradford, PA and a 2 foot snow fall would not shut the schools down. 4 inches shut them down in Cody this year.

The first day of fishing season in PA is the 15th of April and there almost always was snow on the ground. We used to look for where the fish came out of the water to take a crap, then track them back in. Then we knew where they were.

Growing up in the Pocono area, we used to joke that anything less than 2 feet was just flurries. I can remember the roads being plowed out with dozers. What with flurries shutting schools down, good thing it does not snow like that to often anymore.

WyoJim:

Man, you're killing me. PA winters are STILL BAD. I'm about 35 miles in from Lake Erie, in "the snow belt", as in Lake Effect snow. Just the other day weather idiots were blathering about January is stacking up to be a record snowfall month. With current accumulation we are at around 4th all time, plenty of time left too. Calling for 8 to 12 tonight, with more over the weekend. The lake hasn't frozen over yet, so until then it will just keep on dumping. And for the last 3 weeks the high at home has only been about 18*. Nighttime around 0*. Our horses are still wooly as hell. I knew I should have moved to Montana in '91!:{

We freezin our butts off in Wisconsin today. It is -10 degrees with a -35 wind chill. The Dodge doesn't like this kind of weather. Went home for lunch and plugged the block heater in and put it in garage!:(

After a week of -20 weather here in Alaska it warmed up over night to +35 and rained. Got to love a good wind from the South.

Round these parts the first TRUE sign of spring is when you drive across the reservation and everywhere you look you see dogs screwing!!!:

Went to Costco in Billings for 4 new Michelins, Then thought what the hell. might as well drive up to Bozeman and drink a pitcher of beer.

Saw many many Bald Eagles along the Yellowstone River, 100's of them. They seem to be about a month early. Spring is just around the corner.

Ended up drinking 6 pitchers of beer with some friends at the Fire House Casino in Belgrade. Had to get a motel room and stay over night.

One of my new tires was flat the next morning. Took it to Costco in Bozeman and they said they couldn't find any thing wrong with it so they put another new valve stem in it and put it back together.

Its still up this morning, Thank the lord.

We are getting pounded with a blizzard today. The corner for spring just moved a little farther away. Ha Ha
