I was under my truck this weekend changing the oil and noticed a piece of spring metal sticking out of the slot at the bottom of the bell housing. I just changed out the clutch about 2 months ago. It looks suspiciously like part of the spring steel that is used to hold the clutch fork in place during assembly. No problems with the clutch or the action of the engagement or disengagement at this time. What do you think will I have problems down the road or will it be ok. I'd rather fix it now if it's a problem.

Dieselburner... . Hey man I've had the same problem that is what it is off of. Mine did it to me while I was putting the transmission back in it let the fork drop to the bottom. If the clutch is through the fork you have no problem it will not come off mine is off as it stands and has been off for 70,000 miles it is there to hold it while you get the spline through the clutch fork. The true way to do it when and if you put a new clutch in is to replace that spring from D. C. and the new one is stronger than the old one and it will stay on that nub on the fork.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think that it would be a problem leaving it as is but I'm glad to hear that you have managed 70k miles with no problems. To me that says it's a non issue. Thanks again.
