02 Dakota help needed w/ truck...

calling all old school mechanics

Hi TDR Friends,

Not needing a truck anymore, we sold our trusty 1996 2500 Turbo Diesel and purchased a 2005 Dodge Sprinter Van, Class B conversion by Pleasure Way.

With now 15,000 trouble free miles we are very happy with this Turbo Diesel.

Average mileage to date is 22. 3 MPG, power is good for our use.

My question, has anyone on this forum a Dodge Sprinter?

I wish the Dodge Sprinter had a good forum web site, nothing as good as this site or the VW tdiclub.

Perhaps will hear from some Sprinter owners about their experiences.

I drove a Sprinter for the first time on Friday. I liked it a lot. My parents have had one on order since November, it is scheduled for March delivery.

Thanks a bunch. He will appreciate the info.

If my parents get a Sprinter RV, I will likely be able to use it from time-to-time. See... I have selfish intent.

My friends company just got a long(I mean really long) wheelbase high roof Sprinter a few months ago,and I have been in it several times. It is one impressive van. I love the vaiable vane turbocharger, and the option they got that circulates the warm coolant through the heater with the van shut down. If it towed more than 5000lbs,and didn't cost a fortune I would be in the market for one. I guess my 92 D250 is nothing mor ethan a van anyway with the cap on it all the time,so I guess I could get away with a van,but my camper weighs 5000lbs,and I don't want to push the rating of the van, plus it may not be up to the task. The sprinter my friend has is the electric banana yellow, and looks like a school bus. It is a cargo van that is optioned out like a passenger van in some ways. It was special ordered from a dealer in WI,and then the buyer backed out,and it sat for a while,as it is an 04 that they bought in late 05. They only had one issue with it so far,and that was a loose transmission cooler line at the bottom of the radiator that was fixed easy the next day at the dealer. I think Dodge has a winner on their hands with the sprinter, but I don't think the American public is taking to them so well. Maybe someday they will offer more towing capacity, and incentives on them so I can afford one.
