Hey guys, I was wondering if you turbo gurus out there could could tell me what the difference is between these 2 turbos. What should I use on my truck with my current combo? I rarely tow and when I do it's only 5 or 6000 lbs during the winter. Also what exhaust housing, 12 or 14 cm2? Cash is a bit of a factor. The least amount of lag the better. Thanks

The least amount of lag the better.

PS62 12cm ... .

SPS62 14... . looks like you have the fuel too push it!

I know I am in a 2nd Gen post, it is still true.

Is the HTT superstock 62 similar to the sps 62? Looks like the superstock is rated for a little more power than the sps.

i had the sps and now supposedly i have the ps. the sps has a heavier wheel which takes more fuel to get going. yes there is lag with the sps. its a great turbo if your foot is in the pedal alot. a friend of mine has the regular 62/12 and he is more than happy with it. minimal lag with good mid to top end on it.

Great towing turbo! Street racer, no

My SPS is a tow monster. I now have serious towing power/ throttle response in the 45 - 85 mph range with lower EGT's. That is just what I wanted. It is fast, but not lightening quick.

Prior to this I had a quick street fighter that would smoke the tires off till I let up (unloaded of coarse). Not what I needed. Problem was the factory smaller turbo spooled too fast and the engine had no balls with the 14K horse trailer attached on the open highway over 65 mph.

Now my only complaint is the spool up from a stop is very smoky with the big trailer hooked. This is with a HRVP44 and MachII injectors. I hope this gives you some more real world application of this product.

PS62 and SPS62, call II and ask them which one, they both are their product.

They will work with you, Help you pick the correct turbo, so you are happy.

I am calling Them on Monday, I would like an SPS62 again, trade the Silver62 back!

I tow occasionally. the difference to me on the street is not worth it, I will still be able to slay PSD's and *(most) Duramaxes.

* There are some darn quick D's.

A friend has a similarly uprated 24 valve to yours. We put a Hi Tech Quick Diesel 64-14 on it (LDP wheel type). Works very well, but my reent testing with the stainless 13 exhaust housing suggests that would be even better. I think you are pushing enough fuel with the Mach 4s and Edge Drag Comp to warrant that size turbo.
